Does the kettle lift off the base for serving?

Hi Judy Yes it does lift off the base. It is very light and it heats the water in under 2 min. I cannot imagine my life now without it. You will love it.

i bought this kellte 3 months ago, i do not use it any more because when i boil the water it smells of plastic . what shall i do?

I’ve had mine for 4 years and never had a problem. I clean it with white vinegar and water 50/50. Boil the mix and discard. The best kettle there is.
