This is the one to get. It's the first microSD USB reader I have found on Amazon that actually transfers data at close to its advertised rate. The listing says up to 170 Mb/s and I consistently get 160-170 in practice with a high quality microSD card. Moreover, there are no issues with the Wii U; you can put a good quality microSD in this adapter and plug this into the back of the Wii U and treat it like an external hard drive to play games from (just be aware of how this is very demanding of the SD card). The Wii U is itself is inherently limited to USB 2.0 speeds, but my point is that it works with no issues I am aware of.
