This is my second year with my rain barrels. Year one I tried putting metal screening over the holes to keep debris out. That worked ok, but smaller stuff and bugs were still able to get through. I found these mesh rain barrel covers and decided to give them a try. The cover is easy to put on and cinch up, although the ties end up really long then. There is also a lot of fabric, so it falls down into the hole and under the water level a bit. The cover is doing a nice job of keeping debris out of my rain barrel. Now to see how long the cover lasts in the climate of the Midwest.

After adding rain barrels during a landscaping project, I was about to rig some sort of screen to keep debris out of the barrels. Luckily we found these affordable covers. Because we added two rain barrels, it was a bonus to find these as a package of two covers. Although round, they fit our square top barrels and the draw string allowed for a snug fit. They have done a great job of catching leaves and other debris, keeping the barrels clean
