NTS Staggered 1 1/4 Tooth Buttercomb

I ordered this comb because it sounded just so perfect for my wonderful Cava-Poo-Chon, who needs to be groomed daily in order to keep from having matts and stubborn knots in his beautiful fur. The comb arrived yesterday and I could not wait to try it on my little man and what a wonderful experience it was to feel the comb just glide through his coat and not having to work on tangles and worse. Until I stopped and really examined the comb very intently, noticing a little dark speck on the very first tine! I put my finger on the little spot, thinking I would be removing a bit of bark the gardeners just laid down on the grounds of my Condominium Complex, but to my amazement the spot was a piece of nickel plating, coming off the first tine and leaving a strange small, brownish dent, which felt rough and definitely not belonging on a comb described as a "butter comb" And that occurrence is the reason for the title of my Review. This staggered tooth comb is said to be made of stainless steel ............really? What then is the explanation for what I encountered? Because that certainly is not the nature of an object made of stainless steel! And talking about Butter Combs, we have 2 of those which we use daily and none of them have nickel flakes coming off their tines! As far as performance is concerned, this comb absolutely is superb beyond belief! It cuts grooming time in half, just glides through the dog's fur and I even love the weight! Although I am of a thinly build, with smallish hands, I love the heftiness of the comb, which makes it work through dog hair even easier than a lighter one. Nothing but praise for its performance, but very puzzled about the obvious flaw and a reason to send this much appreciated comb back to Amazon, without a shadow of doubt! I am neither a groomer nor a show dog owner, my wonderful dog is just so deserving of the best and therefore I am going out on a limb and ordered a replacement for the defective one immediately. We are holding our breath and hope for the best because this tool is hard to find and seems out-of-stock everywhere I tried. I would like to add that I did call Groomer's Pro and was assured that they have none of these combs in stock anymore and that Amazon.com is most likely the last resort in order to own one. It was mentioned that perhaps the comb was not adequately protected and wrapped for shipment, causing it to become damaged on the way to us. Just received word that a new comb is on the way and we hope it will be perfect!

Our Australian Labradoodle has a very curly coat. She is an active dog and we live on 6 acres with lots of field for her to run and play in which is great but her coat often picks up leaves, seeds and stickers. So far it is the best tool for getting her combed out and free from debris and tangles. It is well made, sturdy and the teeth are far enough apart that it does not hurt her when I am grooming her. I also purchased Ice Ice spray by the same company for detangling really tangled areas that have matted due to too many stickers caught in her hair. I can recommend this comb.

I wish knew about this comb 20 years ago. It is super heavy, but makes going through curly coats so much easier because you can get leverage on the small area it covers. If you have a curly coated dog, buy this now. My only gripe is that is came in a shrinkwrapped clear bag that offered ZERO protection during transit. Seems like such a robust comb should have been protected better. I have no doubt this comb will last decades.

This comb is good for my Poodle. Makes comb outs go much easier..

I never thought I would spend this kind of $$$ on a dog comb. I got this for my Coton de Tulear who has a double coat cotton hair. Works great that I no longer think about the $$$. This is a very heavy comb. 7.8 oz and 6" length. Very solid. I can see this lasting forever with care.

This is a great comb for labradoodles. My puppy is tolerating the daily combing and is not bothered by this comb at all. Great quality product and actually has some good weight to the product.
