Good for background infomation but not for a collector or dealer
The book examines the evolution of chinese ceramics over time examining locations, techniques, and the stylistic changes. Clearly the author is knowledgeable, but minimal treatment of marks and identification of fakes ( a big issue) so more of a coffee table book than an aid to a collector.

nothing new over the myriad books on Chinese porcelain and missing all the great pieces in the Salting Collection. Plus, the pictures are not of very high quality.

The best book on Chinese ceramics. Highly recommended by the librarian at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum
