If Installing on 3 hole sink escutchean is included, solid functional mounting nut is not!
I bought this to install on a twin, deep bowl stainless steel sink with the old style 3 holes punched in it. I ordered the chrome escutcheon separately (because what was in the package was not clear on this being included). It was in fact included, but I didn't want to risk not having what I needed to complete the job. The faucet is pretty light and when first held doesn't feel like it is high quality, but I didn't pay $200 either, so wasn't expecting a free lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the valve assembly after getting it installed though, which really is what matters in a good faucet. What I was not at all impressed with is the C shaped junk cast hold down nut (pictured) which I tried to no avail to replace with a solid brass nut, but it is very much a proprietary sized item. I tried various things to get this faucet attached to my sink where it didn't feel extremely flimsy, and almost gave up and just bought a different one with a better attachment nut. Note: the Faucet would probably not feel this flimsy on any of the heavier / thicker material sinks out there, but these stainless steel sinks are maybe 18- 20 gauge sheet metal. Still don't expect to tighten it to what feel tight with the included nut. As you can see in the pictures what I ultimately ended up doing is fabricating a 1/4 inch plate steel stiffener to mount under the sink opposite to the escutcheon, sandwiching the sink metal in between. For my application this was a 4 x 11 inch plate with a single hole just large enough to allow the faucet through. I had to really carefully screw down that junk hold down nut and set screws because it will skip threads if you try to tighten it to where you would like it to be (tight). End result is the faucet felt way more stable and with a bit of silicone around the unused sink holes below the escutcheon and above my stiffener plate I am really confident there will be no leaking issues. As for the performance, I was very impressed with the smooth operation of the valve. It allows a massive amount of water through if opened all the way and shuts off quickly and very tight with no pressure needed. It took awhile to get used to the increased water pressure and how little you have to move anything to change the temperature and volume of flow. The sprayer allows for stream and spray and will remain in the spay mode without needing to hold the button (very helpful feature) if water flow is adjusted high enough. We were so use to having a spray mode on the old faucet it was a deal breaker not to have it, but this one is capable of so much higher pressure I find myself using the stream for most applications to avoid over spay everywhere. I was a bit disappointed initially that the sprayer was plastic, but it has honestly exceeded my expectations as to quality. If I had to do it over I would only buy a faucet with a full circle brass mounting nut (which the hose ends would easily pass though) like you find on almost all the higher end single stem faucets, but for the money this has actually been one of the best working faucets I have ever purchased. The stiffener plate was/is an absolute must if your mounting to a stainless steel sink. Probably not an issue with a cast iron or composite material (thicker/stiffer) sink. Now that I have it I will just machine a better mounting nut myself if the junk cast one supplied by manufacturer fails. If this faucet came with a full circle higher quality mounting nut (and maybe even offer a stamped generic lower stiffener plate for mounting with SS sinks), and better described what was in the box so I didn't feel the need to order the escutcheon (and then need to return it), I would honestly have to give this faucet a 5 star rating for quality. And to be fair at this price range it really does compare to way more expensive products. You will adapt to the micro adjustments needed to get your temp and flow where you want them, but expect to feel that it is way to sensitive after using lower quality valves. very small, extremely smooth, movements are needed with this unit. It is a pleasure to use and would not want to go back. Here's to hoping the mount nut holds out. If you are the manufacturer reading this review and care to upgrade the mounting nut to a full circle brass nut (and send me the upgraded version) I will gladly, and honestly, upgrade this review to a 5 star rating.
