Iโm a brown basmati rice snob
I prefer brown basmati to white basmati but my goodness is a good one hard to find. Trader Joeโs used to have a really good brown basmati but theyโve discontinued it. Most I find are overly processed and fall apart or get too soft. This one though is excellent. I cook it al dente, drain, and then steam on very low. Nice, fluffy, delicious with a wonderful aroma.

Perfect Brown rice.
Basmati Rice brown or white is the best rice as it does not stick together as some other rice does. The grain length is perfect. For those of you who use a rice cooker I found that cooking on the brown rice cycle makes a very mushy rice. I have found that using the white rice setting makes a perfect rice.

Tasty and aromatic basmati brown rice
2nd time I've purchased Bombay Basmati Brown Rice. It's delicious, aromatic. Cooking tip - run your rice in a food processor for 30 seconds to crack the hull before cooking. It will help your brown rice turn out soft and puffy.

Great rice!
I like it. Iโm eating because I hope it will provide better bulk than white Basmati.

A Rescue for Hard to Find Brown Basmati in Stores
Cooks well. Comes in double bag with zipper. Nothing to dislike.

A bulk purchase means fewer trips to the store, & the places I shop run out quite often!!!
I have long loved basmati rice but never had this brand, so I thought I would buy this time in a larger bulk & I made a 3-cup batch in my rice cooker the minute I carefully cut the stiches loose on this rustic looking bag!!! Wow, fluffy & delicious, also I never had the brown rice version before now, buy some, you won't go wrong with basmati rice!!!

Fake?
I usually buy my basmati rice (white or brown) from the South Asian shopping area here. However, I saw this and thought isn't it nice that I can actually buy my brown basmati rice online then I don't have to lug 10-20 lbs of rice home? This Bombay brown basmati rice is either a fake or very low quality basmati rice. I test cooked this rice with different volumes of water. The cooked grain is fat and slightly sticky (not as sticky as Asian rice but still sticky quite unlike other Basmati rice). There was no post cooking elongation which characterizes Basmati rice. The texture when you're eating it is different - dense, sticky and pasty. Basmati rice is light (even brown basmati rice is light compared to other varieties of brown rice). This Bombay brown basmati rice doesn't look, feel and taste like Basmati rice. Guess I'll have to go back to getting my Basmati rice from brick stores. If Amazon has a zero rating, this product would get a zero. ------------- Update 6/29/2016: I finally found where to buy brown Basmati rice. Patelbros has 3 stores here in Illinois. I usually shop at their Chicago West Ridge store. But, their Hanover Park store operates an online store (Yay! for not heaving to carry heavy bags of rice). There's only one brand of brown Basmati rice though - Swad ($14.99 per 10 lbs). Good enough. Shipping is $11.99 (UPS) for purchases up to $99.99 so I just purchase several bags to make the most of shipping.

Grown in the fertile soil of the Himalayan region
I ordered this rice after the great arsenic scare of 2012, and I am not disappointed. For those that are not aware, US rice carries "1.4 to 5 times more arsenic than rice from Europe, India and Bangladesh. As I write this, I have a pot of lentil Dahl cooking, and I'll eat it with this rice. I was quite happy with rice grown in America, but they decided to grow it in ex-cotton fields that had been sprayed with arsenic...and even used chicken poop that contains arsenic to fertilize *organic* rice crops with (It seems feeding chickens arsenic allows them to grow faster. Your health doesn't matter, it is all about the benjamins). My favorite rice is a Lundberg organic, brown/wild rice blend. Is this rice as good as Lundberg's rice? Probably not, but the bar is set pretty high there. However, this is a good solid rice and I plan on getting more in the future. If anyone would like to know what the tag attached to the bag says (you can see it in the picture), this is what it reads: Bombay Original - Basmati Rice is grown in the fertile soil of the Himalayan region. the cool clean mountain air, abundand streams and rainfall create the perfect growing conditions that give this premium Basmati rice its special flavour and firm texture. Basmati rice is low in calories, contains no sodium, and no cholesterol. Enjoy it in good health.
