i really like this product and the service I receive from HiLetgo. Oliva is always responsive to e-mails. I have used this both with a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino. at this time, I have chosen to connect it to a Arduino Nano, and read it through the serial port on the Raspberry Pi. This is a good setup because it leaves all of the GPIO pins on the Pi free to use with motor boards, sensors and etc. I would suggest that the supplied right-angle pins supplied with the board be used, as this makes access to them easier after mounting to a project. Tutorials for this are abundant online for the rfid-rc522. these will direct you in connection, and also will point you in the direction of libraries for both the Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I have purchased several items from HiLetgo, and have always found them to be of highest quality manufacture and reasonable pricing.

Only problem is that the SPI connection is a bit faulty and randomly disconnects, however, still good for the price

Works great with MicroPython and Raspberry Pi Pico W
Once I got the driver mfrc522.py and some sample code this worked right out of the box. While the board supports SPI and i2c, the driver has only SPI Init in it leaving adding i2c support to adventurous developers. Iโm using this as a key to start my DIY electric scooter bike. I will likely buy another - canโt beat the price!

Not so defective, actually
Previously, I thought my readers were all defective as I couldn't pull firmware off them... Turns out that there's a few versions of the MFRC522.h library floating around and some call for you to swap the MISO and MOSI pins. Once I did this, these worked perfectly.These work great.

Mediocre
Just didnt work as well as the other RFID reader I got from HiLetgo. The tag had to be sitting directly on the surface and couldn't go through even a thin sheet of plastic.

Works well
Compatible with a few other of my MiFARE Classic 1K cards (library cards and that kinda thing), so it's definitely working properly.
