I have a whole range of Dewalt 20V tools. They are all very robust and work well for professionals like myself. This planer works and is easy to adjust but I took off a star as it is not easy to use. Whoever designed the safety second switch was a sadist. For someone with big hands like myself you get almost instant cramp trying to push down the little safety bar while simultaneously pulling the trigger switch on and holding and moving the tool with the other hand. It is difficult to keep the tool moving and under control while trying to get the 2 switches and handle held operating. A simple side push button like what Dewalt has on their belt sander would work so much better. It works and works with my big set of Dewalt 20V batteries but I wouldn't highly recommend it for any significant amount of continuous work if you have big hands.

Great handheld planer! Does the job and easy to control. Also it works great with just a 2amp battery installed, which I was expecting to use a 4 amp or larger to get it working properly!

Works really well. I am using it to plane uneven 2x4s/studs before putting up drywall. A lifesaver.

I like to do some hand tool woodworking and I use this as a "cheat" to save myself hassle and energy with rough dimensioning. You really should use some earbuds or ear protection with it, and probably a dust mask (although I don't), but otherwise, it is great. Just like with hand planes, I add a squiggle or two of paraffin wax to the sole to make it slide more smoothly. This is the first time I have used a battery powered hand planer. It is so much nicer and safer than a corded power planer. Fair price, great quality, nice features, nice balance, and a 5 AH battery goes a long way. Highly recommended.

I used this to plane level some areas of a deck substructure and previously to shape some inserts during its renovation. It did both jobs very well. It cannot perform like a full table planer, but that is an unreasonable ask - it is great for what it is. In combination with a belt and/or orbital sander this is a good shaping tool as part of your fine or rough carpentry arsenal. I did hit a screw at one point and nicked the blade so thereafter it left a small stripe as I planed, but that is my bad not the machines. I only mention it as this slip pointed out that the blades are not a standard size. They are long narrow strips with no fastening holes, rather they clamp in to the rotor (there is a place to store two spares - that don't come with it - in the handle). The correct blades are available on amazon.ca as "DeWalt Genuine OEM Replacement Carbide Blade # 273794". I had no problem with my 5 Ah battery running out during several hours of use on a couple of occasions, but it wasn't running all of the time either.

Máquina excelente, mesmo usando uma bateria de 5 amper e leve para manusear, silenciosa, potente e o mais legal é que quando desliga o motor tem freio para parada rápida, outro ponto muito importante dela é a saída para aspiração que já vem na carcaça da máquina, podem comprar tranquilamente, pois o único arrependimento que vc vai ter é de não ter comprado ela antes, rsrs.

Me encanta el rendimiento que tiene está herramienta y la facilidad y pureza que deja en el trabajo, apenas necesita pasar la lijadora después de cepillar, deja la madera impecable, recomiendo no forzar con niveles grandes de cepillado, incluso dejando el cepillo en 0 ya hace un muy buen trabajo de desbaste.. recomiendo tener 2 pilas para cargar una mientras de usa la otra
