I bought this Brightech Litespan LED 2nd Edition Reading Floor Lamp to replace my father's similarly styled flourescent lamp that no longer worked. This lamp is totally superior to the older one in virtually every way, and comes with a three-year warranty. It arrived packaged in a well-cushioned protective styrofoam container inside a sturdy cardboard box, which itself was inside a normal cardboard shipping box. It has three light colors to choose from (6000K, like bright noontime sunlight; 4000K, like cool white flourescent lights; and 3000K, like warm incandescent light bulbs). Each of these light colors, once selected, is dimmable from extremely bright to low. A single push button switch accomplishes the selection and dimming functions. The light remembers the selection, so it will come on the next time the way you previously had it set. The LED's are covered by a frosted diffuser to eliminate glare. The lamp is well made and sturdy, with a nicely weighted base to keep it stable. The head is adjustable in every direction. The pole consists of three threaded sections that are screwed together, and one section could be left out to make it shorter if desired. For assembly, the only tool required is a Phillips head screwdriver for a single screw at the base. Assembly instructions are included with a simple to follow diagram, easy enough for almost anyone. Note that all three pole sections are different and must be assembled in the correct order (as shown and explained in the instructions). Just be certain to screw the pole sections tightly together straight, without crossthreading. Everything should easily fit together so that the dividing lines between sections almost disappear. Line up the hole in the bottom section before attempting to put the screw in. Total assembly time was about five or ten minutes The back of the assembly instructions provides directions for operating the lamp to get the various colors and dimming levels from the push button switch. After a minute or two of reading the directions and experimenting with the switch, most people should have no problem using the light with their own preferences. I liked this light so well that after giving one to my father I ordered another one for myself.

I am a quilter and machine embroiderer so I need good light. I've owned the other brand name lamp for years and have not been happy with for a number of reasons, i.e. tipping over easily, (which caused the light tube to break and that was shockingly expensive to replace), it got hot, angling the light was difficult and, frankly, it was butt ugly. So I took a chance and ordered this lamp and am so happy I did. This lamp is amazing. I'm in HOG HEAVEN! It is well weighted and balanced so it doesn't tip over and it is easy to move around. The assembly was easy, just feed the wire from the lamp head through the tubes Connect the tubes as you go, and at the very bottom you connect the wire (like a phone plug) and undo one screw, put the tube on the base, line up the holes and put the screw back in. So all you need is a small Phillips screw driver. E-a-s-y. Be sure to read the back of the instruction sheet because it tells about the light operation. It has three light types: full spectrum, soft white, and bright white. Each one can be dimmed to your liking. The flex neck adjusts easily. The lamp itself is a really light gray and darker gray neck. Very nice in any decor. The lamp head stays cool so you do too. When I first saw the lamp head I was concerned that it wasn't big enough to give off enough light. No worries! It gives off tons of light, perhaps more than the larger head of my old lamp. There are very few products that I am really impressed with and this lamp is one of them. Highly recommend.

This lamp has one thing I don't like, the control button function. Because it's a reading lamp, the control is under the lamp head, and you don't typically look at that. So the designer(s) opted for a single button which controls on/off, brightness, and light color. When you press it, it will turn on the last setting you made provided it's been awhile since you turned it off. Holding the button will make the brightness fade to the dimmest setting, then immediately brighten to the peak setting. It's a bit too fast for eight brightness settings to be easy to get exactly what you want, but once you do, it's fine. Clicking again will cycle through the next color mode (of four), and holding the button will make it dim then brighten. Since I just got it yesterday, it's much too soon to know if this is a non-issue or a permanent irritant, but I'm hoping for the former. Other than that, the lamp is a good, modern looking, and quite functional. It's bright enough to read anything, and the diffuser is quite good. You still can make out the individual LED's, but not as glare points. The flex gooseneck is able to hold the head in any position and there's no fear of bending it the wrong way. The assembly was quick and simple, requiring just a Phillips screwdriver for a single screw at the base. The column sections fit together seamlessly, and once assembled, has none of that cheesy flex of an Ikea lamp. The base is weighted and very solid. Unpacking and assembly took me about five minutes. If you don't need to adjust your color setting and brightness each time you turn it on, I think this lamp is a great choice.

I’ve had two of these lamps for six years, and they’re the only LED lamps I have that haven’t started to flicker or flash within a short amount of time or hurt my eyes in some ways The light feels broad and steady unlike most LED lamps; it almost feels incandescent. It’s *great* light for drawing and writing. The quality and stability of the lamp pole are poor - one of my lamps leans at a noticeable angle after having been moved a few times - but I am still giving five stars because the quality of the light is so good (as long as they haven’t changed the LEDs in that time).

I LOVE this lamp! I do cross-stitch and need a light to come from my left side as I stitch. This lamp is the perfect size (not too tall), with a base that is just large and heavy enough to be sturdy, but not awkward to lift or place anywhere. The options for color of light and brightness control are essential, and the LED lighting won't make me too warm as my incandescent work light used to. Best hobby lamp I've ever had!

I am extremely happy with this lamp. It is by far the most useful lamp that I own - it has the flexibility to adjust the angle of lamp head so that the light can be directed exactly where you need it, which is important for doing detailed work. And it has three light choices which can also be adjusted in terms of intensity. So the lamp is totally adjustable, except for height, which is not an issue since it is a reading lamp and is already at the proper height for that purpose. Most important for me - I use it as a desk lamp that stands next to my desk and so it frees up desk space, which is wonderful given that I am usually working from a couple of books, my notepad, and my laptop, and also have a cup of coffee or bottle of water on the desk. The lamp was easy to assemble and is sturdy - just be sure to screw the connector piece into the base before inserting the lower bar into it - so that it does not wobble, a concern mentioned by another reviewer. Highly recommended.

Excellent light. Nice sturdy base. Different light modes , big light space & gooseneck make for ease of use & great light variances. I’m using the light mainly for handwork. In addition to using it on a daily basis, I’m planning to take it to quilting retreats. Planning to make a cloth bag to cover the light when transporting, perhaps that would be a great add on for the company to offer. Very satisfied with this purchase.
