Reliable Clean Water Anywhere Outdoors I’ve used a lot of different water filters on hikes and camping trips, but this Purewell pump filter stood out right away. The construction feels solid in hand, with no flimsy parts, and the pumping mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. It’s not overly heavy or bulky, so it fits into a pack without taking much space—important when you’re already juggling gear. Performance-wise, it does its job very well. The 4-stage filter system (including the carbon stage and 0.01 micron membrane) gives me confidence in the water quality, and the taste was noticeably better than what I’ve had from some other filters. I tried it in a stream with a fair amount of sediment, and it handled the water without clogging quickly. Flow rate was steady, enough to fill a bottle in just a few minutes without too much effort. Another thing I appreciate is the replaceable filter cartridge. Instead of buying a whole new unit, you can just swap out the filter when it reaches the end of its lifespan, which makes it more economical long-term. The included tubing and accessories worked well with both wide-mouth and narrow bottles. Things to keep in mind: like all pump filters, it takes a little effort, and if you’re filtering for a whole group it can take some time. Also, while it packs down well, it’s not as tiny as some straw-style filters—but the trade-off is cleaner, better-tasting water and the ability to filter larger amounts. Bottom line: A reliable, well-designed water filter pump that’s perfect for camping, hiking, or emergencies. Easy to use, durable, and produces clean water you can trust.

I live in NYC and the tap water here is pretty good so I’m not concern about drinking straight from the tap. But some days of the month the chlorine level is a little stronger, so I do want to have a water filter for this reason. I had one of those filters with the 3 huge canister filters, the ones that you have to install under-the-counter and drilled a hole through your countertop and refit the plumbing to accept the additional water valve but to my horror those canisters leak every year. I disconnected it after the 2nd leakage and decided to try this camping filter. I was very surprised of the water quality it produced! It’s small so it doesn’t take up too much space and no need for all the strenuous installment routine and I’m worried free of any leakages. I wish I had discovered this before I met the first water filter disaster.

This is my first time using a pump filter for backpacking. The pump is pretty easy, but does take a bit of work to fill up my 3L water bladder. The clip on the hose helps keep the water flowing into the bag without having to mess with it. The filtration looks good, but I haven't tested it on murky water. Overall, it packs a bit larger and heavier than a Sawyer Squeeze filter, but is light and enough to be a good backpacking option.

Lake Superior and its Aquaphers will plug the gravity filters and straws really fast with the high minerals. Seen bag filters plug in one fill . This is the only one I have seen that works for many weeks . I helped many people with water on the north country trail that had their filters plug up just a day or 2 in their trip. I found I can clean these filters and back flush w bleach and water and they do really well . I recommend this to all my friends.
