Just what I was looking for. A small ball compass that pins on the flight deck as a backup to my phone. Works well and doesn't take up much room on my flight deck. Would buy again, Many thanks.

These work great pinned to the straps of a "go bag" or "get home bag". They are easy to read and fairly accurate in general. Much better than trying to read the moss growing on the north side of trees or making a makeshift sundial (totally misleading and inaccurate) and will work even when your cell phone is out of juice or fried. There are other options such as a proper lensatic compass that will be better for reading your bearing but none that I have seen that are so convenient and always available at a glance. Be advised that it takes a couple of seconds to stabilize the reading AND... they are VERY sensitive to proximity to any ferrous metals. Keep them at least a foot away from anything containing iron or magnets and they will read accurately. If you do not do this you will get an inaccurate reading and end up way off course. This can be very manageable with a little bit of preparation and testing before you actually need them. For the price and the convenience these are pretty great!
