3 months in, extremely happy!
As we all know, you do pay a premium for all Hue products - but each time I've handed over money and grumbled, I always end up being blown away by the quality and ease of setup for all products in the Hue ecosystem. Note: In my example video, you can see that the strip is syncing to the content being displayed on the TV - you sadly won't be able to do this with the strip alone, you'll also need to purchase (another hefty sum!) the Hue Sync Box (I'm using the latest 8K version in this example, though the original will suit most needs). But the results are fantastic, and really pulls you in to any content you're watching. Also worth noting that I had been using the strip without the sync box for nearly 2 months (the newest version of the sync box only came out a few weeks ago) and even just using it as a backlight for ambient lighting was worth the investment of the strip alone. I do use Hue bulbs across my living room, so having them all working to set the mood and merge together is wonderful. Especially with the TV strip bouncing off the wall behind, and casting a glow. Setup was a breeze and is easily possible for one person to install. You basically stick the mounts for the strip onto the back of the TV, clip in the light strip, attach the power adapter (which I stuck on the back of my TV with some mounting tape shown in one of my pictures) and add the device in the Hue app. After that, you're all set to go. Since the initial purchase; I've added the Sync Box, incorporate the strip into new scenes, and setup lots of specific home automation to control it all. I now just speak to either Alexa or Siri and it all connects and adjusts as needed - a bit tedious to setup, but worth the hassle in the end. Would definitely purchase this again if needed, and happily advise a friend/family member to do the same. Really blown away by it, but a very expensive hobby that you never thought you'd get sucked in: home lighting!

Good but expensive, and can fall off if TV back not smooth, need compatible TV for best results
Overall I really like the effect these lights create with both streaming and gaming content. I'm glad I have them but they are not without issues. Positives 1. Overall effect of the lights is great. Very high quality lighting that matches the output of the TV image with a very good accuracy. 2. The colours the lights produce are really great, feel high quality and are very pleasing. 3. If you have a TV that is compatible with the Hue app, they can be used with a smart TV's built-in streaming services (as opposed to needing an external streaming box). Negatives 1. These fall off the back of the TV much more often than is desirable (i.e. never). I have a Samsung TV which is compatible with the Hue app, but the TV itself has a back that is covered with ridges in the plastic. This makes it hard for the sticky pads holding the lights on to actually adhere properly - thus they can fall off with annoying regularity. So I'd suggest inspecting the back of your TV before buying these to ensure they can be attached securely. 2. Expensive for a strip of LED lights. 3. Lights can feel a but laggy and don't react to image changes as fast as they could. I expect this is to prevent lots of rapid changes (though I'm not sure), but it does stop them matching the image lighting as well as they could. 4. Require additional expensive sync box, or (for best results) a subscription to the Hue TV app (this is relatively affordable, but still annoying to have to pay a fee every month to actually be able to use the lights you've already purchased. I do like it better than the previous optional of paying nearly £200 for an app, mind you). 5. If your only option is a sync box, then the lights will only work with content that is sent through that box (eg. Apple TV box or games console), so streaming services that are built-in to your smart TV will not work with these lights. So overall, if they work for your set-up and you have the cash to spare, these are great, but there are enough annoyances to prevent a wholehearted recommendation.

Great Lighting, But Disappointing Durability
I've been a long-time fan of Philips Hue products, and the Gradient Lightstrip for my 55-inch TV initially didn't disappoint. It was easy to install, worked seamlessly with the app, and truly elevated my TV experience with its stunning lighting effects. I’ve always preferred mood lighting over harsh spotlights, and this fit perfectly with the rest of my Philips Hue setup. However, despite paying a premium price for this product and purchasing it in March 2024, I’ve started facing a major issue. Over the past month, the adhesive backing on the brackets that secure the lightstrip to the TV has been peeling off. Every day, I find myself having to check and push them back to ensure they don’t fall. This is incredibly frustrating, especially for such an expensive product that isn’t even that old. For something this valuable, I find the adhesive issue unacceptable and disappointing. Not sure what to do next, but this shouldn’t be happening!

Good but breaks easily
Colour is great, easy set up and synchs well with the synch box, it does improve the living room, however the adhesive that attaches the clips to the back of the TV isn’t very good and they are constantly falling off meaning the strip falls with it and due to that the connections inside the strip have broken and we now have a couple of large blue chunks where the corners are that’s stuck blue. This can be resolved by putting pressure (I’ve wedged cardboard under it) through the strip but it’s not a brilliant fix. I probably wouldn’t buy one again unless they bought out a new improved version 2 with better soldering inside to prevent it breaking easily at the smallest of drops. I do think this product is overpriced for what it is having owned one with the issues I’ve had with it.

No issues and works perfectly.
Love love love. Stuck it on the 77 inch LG C4. No issues with the stick on brackets. Clean the dust off and stick. Wait 15 minutes before starting to place the strip on. Certain tv models now have the option to download the Hue sync app. This avoids having to buy the sync box and is even better. Why? Because, now everything that is on the screen no matter the source of the signal uses the Hue Sync App to send the right colours to the Hue strip.

Spettacolare
