Great (cheap and simple) box for connecting professional mics to, say, a Mac laptop which has no external mic input. Plug the mic(s) - up to two - into the XLR inputs (mic or line, or use a phone jack in the combo inputs) and plug the M-Audio's USB output (cable supplied) into any standard flat (original-style) USB-type-A socket in your laptop or full-size computer. The USB connection provides power for the M-Audio box electronics, AND for phantom power into the mic, if needed by condenser mics. Just choose the 'USB CODEC' as the computer's audio input, and you're done! Perfect for using great quality mics for Zoom calls, Zoom - or similar - conferences, or just for recording great audio. Perfect, for instance, for using a rich-sounding Sennheiser 441 professional mic (with XLR-only connection) straight into a computer which has no XLR inputs. Brilliantly cheap and simple.

I got the M-audio Duo (was actually classified as used supplied by Amazon). I'm new to the world of audio interfaces, just wanted something so I could record the midi output from my digital piano and then play it back. I'm using an iPad 9th gen with a powered usb hub and also tried it on my phone (xiaomi note pro) and a Lenovo tablet. Works brilliantly on the ipad and phone, no noticeable lag. Not so good on the Lenovo, sound is lagging terribly, but that's got to be an issue with the Lenovo not the interface. Sound is good as I need it to be, no unwanted noises etc. As for being used, it looks brand new to me. So all in all very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend it.

Not the most robust. A bit plasticy so wouldn't go using it for gigs but more than ok for home use. The 2 channels are good for recording 2 mics or 1 mic and an instrument and work really well with indicators to show if clipping. If you are using an expensive set of headphones you may have to turn volume way up, but for most phones it will be fine I think. Just one warning if using a PC, make sure you plug into rear usb as ones on front are a bit underpowered I think as they caused bad noise/hum on mics if plugged into front but fine when plugged into rear. For the money, you can't go wrong.

Used for several months this is a great quality outboard sound device perfect for any small home recording set up powerful sound both headphones and monitors.

This has worked really well for me to record acoustic and electric guitars, vocals and keyboard etc. I had previously tried a Focusrite scarlett but experienced a lot of latency issues with it. No such problems with the M Audio. Good value for money too.

We upgraded our audio set-up recently and bought a couple of really nice mics, so a twin-input XLR audio interface was needed. After debating various interfaces, I decided to take a risk and go for the M-audio as I've used older models in the past with very little issue and it was the cheapest by far. Whenever you go cheap with audio gear theres always an element of finger-crossing, but I need not have worried. A few reviews have complained that it feels tinny, and I would disagree. It is deceptively light for sure, but somehow also manages to feel well built and robust. Theres a good action on the gain knobs and the switches are very positive as well, overall despite the low weight I'd say its actually very nicely made as long as you don't plan on stamping on it or putting a marshall stack on top of it. The XLR inputs grip tightly and securely, infact every single port on this little box feels precise and well made. The level of clarity delivered by this interface is really quite impressive, its a very clear, open and honest sound with no tonal colouring which is always going to be preferred by anyone serious about audio as it's a proper "blank slate" to begin with. I found no noise was introduced to the signal at all until the gain was set above 9, which is excellent. Setting it up was so simple a child could do it, and after downloading the ASIO drivers from the m-audio website it was ready to go in seconds. There are no bells or whistles and frills (it does have switchable phantom power but this is unnecessary for my setup so I can't say if its any good) but I'd say its barebones nature is actually its strength. It looks professional, it sounds professional, and its cheap. I guarantee you won't hear the difference between this and a focusrite or similar, and the only reason to buy above it is if you need more features or are planning on using it to beat your bass guitarist over the head, in which case may I recommend a brick instead. Good stuff.

I wanted an inexpensive but decent audio interface for my older guitar multiple FX pedals that don't have a built in audio interface. Works well, easy to set up, good sound quality, good connectivity, and good value.

Been using this for over a year now, and whilst it is perfectly serviceable and does what I need it to, I wish the volume pots were better scaled. For every mic I've tested it with (from Zoom ZDM-1's, and SM-58's, to Blue Yetis) the volume controls basically do nothing until you reach the 8-10 range on the dial. It means that you are making tiny, fractional changes to the volume which has a big impact on the signal volume. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but it does mean adjusting the inputs for new mics/users is a fiddly process and prone to overdoing it. If they could sort that, it'd be a 5-star review! But hey, at this price you can't really complain when it's handled everything else I've thrown at it.

The unit works well to digitize the sound which can be limited by Do-It-Yourself recorders such as phone, computer inputs or MICS. I tried so many things before jumping in to record correctly with appropriate hardware. OLD school items such as phones, or even high dollars MICs with plug-ins are not worthy of publishable recordings since the clipping is eliminated by forcing software limits on input (without your desire, as most items do this as a precautionary measure - to NOT ruin the PC, sound card, guts of the equipment, etc... The M-Audio, as well others, was researched and matched quite well with the higher priced items. It also had equal HZ ratings as some that were 5X the cost. I used this specific piece of equipment to record 20 songs for copyright with very good clarity and response. The CONS - the clipping adjustment is peaked at 9 or 10, which keeps you hopping on sound adjustments for various inputs (singing vs. instrument). It is a SOLO output regardless the hookups, which means, all SOUND (even if singing and playing two instruments) is blended to ONE OUTPUT (which is the input to DAW/Software). The drivers, which are FREE to download as well the software does NOT work on older PCs. I have an i5 rockin' PC that runs like a race horse, BUT will not run this stuff. So, even though the compliance online stated various modern WIN Platforms included, it will not on WIN 7 Home Premium. The FREE software will not either. However, it is running, and did run successfully on my Win 10 computer system. Generically speaking - it worked, and worked well!

This is the first XLR interface I've ever owned so my review might not be worth as much as someone with more experience, but I'm very happy with this interface. I'm using it with 2 Mackie EM-89D microphones and it's all just so simple and works so well. My wife and I record some game play videos now and then just for fun and we've been using headset microphones which has been a pain to say the least. Even though we'd record into the same program at the same time, we'd always have to sync our microphones in post to start, but then as the editing went on the mics would drift out sync, causing issues with echo and things like that. Using this interface though, the PC see's this interface as 1 microphone, and we're each recorded into 1 of the left or right stereo channels, no more microphone sync issues. That alone has made this a fantastic purchase. I got this as a warehouse deal for about $50 Canadian. It said it's condition was "Acceptable" and the box was pretty beat up, but the actual interface was in perfect condition. Since we're not professionals and we just record for fun I wouldn't have bought this if I wasn't able to get this used at a good deal, but now that I've used it I would say it's easily worth it even at full price for a new unit. Highly recommended if you're starting out
