washing instructions?

I have yet to wash an item made from this but if I did I would either wash by hand in cold OR use my delicates setting on my washer. I have done this with a shirt made of mercerized cotton and it comes out great. Hope that helps.

Would this be good for a baby blanket?

I made a beautiful baby blanket with this yarn. My granddaughter loves it for her new baby boy. Go for it. I used a double yarn.

What size crochet needle to use?

It would depend on what you are making and how many stitches per inch. I would suggest 4-6 or D-F. I use two skeins and use a knitting needle size 3.
