There are other brands (Heininger & Elite) that look and function just like this one but are less expensive. Is there are difference in quality?

I would have to see the other ones, but I can tell you that I had looked long and hard at fire pits and this one is of top notch quality. What we love about it is the fact that we can have it sitting on our carpet in our screened in patio and it does not bother the carpet. Puts off a nice amount of heat also. We love it.

what are the dimensions of this unit. any idea how long a protane tank 20lbs will fire up?

Mathematically speaking, Propane has energy density of 91,500 BTU per US Gallon. This units output rating is 58,000 BTU (at MAX flame) or 1.57 hours of burn per gallon of fuel at full flame. A Standard 20lb Propane tank will hold 4.6 Us Gallons of fuel - Hope this helps

Can I put small ceramic fire logs on the rocks without damaging..... would love to add them for the effect

I don't think you want to add logs. The stones provide a surface for carbon to build and produce the orange flame. I don't think you wof hurt anything by adding logs.

I have never used mine on a wooden deck but it should be fine their. There is no heat on the bottom at all. It is really a good fire bowl.

Buena inversión para no pasar frío

Calienta muy bien, perfecto para áreas pequeñas. Dice que trae piedras de repuesto pero las 3 bolsas que trae quedan casi exactas, hasta siento que le hacen falta porque ninguna sobra para dejarlas de repuesto, igual son fáciles de conseguir. Lo que sí es que tuve que cambiarle la conexión que trae en el regulador porque evidentemente la que trae no da en los tanques de gas de México, gasté solo $65 pesos en la punta pol con o-ring y la tuerca izquierda con maneral de plástico negro. Si lo recomiendo por la practicidad de llevarlo a cualquier lugar y poder usarlo donde sea. Yo lo uso en mi terraza con un tanque de gas de 4Kg.
