Put Some Pep in Your Prep
I saw a late-night TV ad for a similar pull chop gizmo and decided to see what Amazon customers had to say about it. Then I saw this Kuhn Rikon model, read the rave reviews, and figured a Swiss company might have the "edge" when it came to sharp-bladed choppers. No joke! Compared to the Progressive slap chopper I had before, the blades of this pull chopper are razor-sharp. So sharp, in fact, that the company includes a plastic sleeve to cover the blades when not in use. And as another reviewer pointed out, the blades here only come in contact with the food, not the surface of a cutting board, so the blades should keep their sharp edge longer than those used by slap choppers. And while I used to have to slap and slap the plunger on the Progressive chopper to chop the food fine enough, three pulls or less on this whiz-bang device does the job lickety-split. In fact, I almost think this chopper works TOO well. I used it last night to chop onions, peppers, and celery for a spaghetti sauce, and it reduced the veggies to such fine pieces so quickly, I'm glad I didn't follow the instructions, which said five or more pulls on the string would be necessary. The device is also very easy to use -- just cut the pieces of food to fit inside the chopper, give a few pulls, and you're done. It's simple to clean as well. There really are only two parts to clean, the clear plastic cutting container and the blade assembly. The manufacturer tells you not to immerse the top assembly, so I just wiped the inside bottom of that piece with a damp sponge and dried it with a dish towel. What can I say? The Swiss Pull Chop makes quick work of food prep, and it's compact and easy to use. A winner in every way... PROS: * Works much faster than comparable slap choppers. * Easy to clean. * Components, including blades, appear to be high-quality. * Compact, easy to store. * Reasonably priced. CONS: * None that I can think of at the moment.

Easy to use and super effective
This is a fast and effective chopper/mincer that really works great. You can make a tuna, chicken or egg salad in a flash right in the little container if you want, just be careful when removing and handling the sharp blade. I wasn't making those salads as often as I like because I am not a fan of a big dice for a sandwich salad and don't have the patience or skill to dice the celery or protein up to a tiny size. I have various chopping devices, but none worked very well for the protein and although I could use them to dice the celery, it took a bit longer than I wanted. I decided to try this device when I saw it on QVC and immediately loved it so much I bought one for my daughter too. It does a really good job and allows you to make not only finely minced salad right in the container (just remove the top and blade, add mayo and stir), but also chops nuts quickly and easily, makes quick salsa or a fine garlic mince to add to a dish you are cooking. It's very versatile. It's also easy to clean. You can't put the top in the dishwasher, but it's easy to rinse off or wipe off manually. I find it easy enough to clean all the parts manually I never put them in the dishwasher. One thing though is that the blade is small and can fall down the disposal. :( Oh dear. I had to buy a new unit because the blade got all bent up. I got it out of the disposal but it was too barked up to use anymore. The good thing is that I now have an extra bowl if I want to store something in the fridge. I looked on QVC when I needed the replacement, but didn't need the extra bowl they offered and it was considerably cheaper here. Very pleased. It is well designed with a rubber ring on the bottom to give stability on the counter. You just place one hand on the top to hold the unit it steady and pull on the handle to spin the blade. Amazing how well it works. Highly recommended.

No knife, no finger cutting, fast easy, "dishwasherable."
My wife bought this originally and I was like, Oh goody another useless tool. I WAS WRONG. This thing is great. I make a mean chicken salad with multiple ingredients that all have to be chopped up. So, 30 minutes chopping with a knife and associated dangers or 15 seconds with this thing. We also get Costco Chickens for ourselves and as dog toppers. A whole lot cheaper than the "dog" specific stuff. I make and chop the Chicken salad with the breast meat then "chicken pick" the rest for about six or seven days of dog food topping... I chop the meat...a bit...for the dogs. You can basically make a puree of anything chopped or just break it up into smaller pieces. Much better than the electric ones. It's simple, elegant in function and easy to use and clean if you gotta dishwasher even if not. Excellent product

Really helpful, high quality, device for a surprisingly small price
I've been so impressed with this manual pull chopper. When I ordered it, I wondered whether this was going to be a piece of junk. Quite the opposite--this chopper is so useful. It cuts pretty much any vegetable one puts in it. You control how fine it is chopped by how many pulls you give on the pull bar. For most veggies, five pulls cuts the veggies pretty fine. Two or three pulls cuts the veggies to a medium size. This device is not a slicer but a chopper as it says. It does a wonderful job at chopping veggies into smaller pieces. You need to do a little work to cut the veggies into pieces that will fit into the chopper. After that, just pull on the pull bar and in a matter of seconds, you chop the veggies to the size you want. Really great device that is easy to clean. Be careful because the blades are very sharp. I've had the chopper for 6 months. I've had no problems and it is as good as the day it was first delivered.

Good chopper, but not great
My wife and I do a lot of cooking, always trying out different recipes and using fresh ingredients. For me, the most time-consuming aspect of food preparation is chopping and dicing--onions, garlic, etc. When I read about what these Swiss pull choppers can do, I thought, let's give it a try. I can report that, for the most part, the Kuhn Rikon pull chopper does the job, quickly and well. For example, peel an onion, cut it in half, put the two halves in the chopper, close it up, and pull the string 5-7 times, and you have a nicely chopped onion in probably a 10th of the time it would take you to chop it by hand. Is it perfect? No. If you're only chopping say, two cloves of garlic, the chopper will only work up to a point, and the garlic will be chunkier than if you cut it by hand. Also, certain seasonings, like rosemary needles, don't chop up as fine as you might like. I've tried to mitigate this, by holding and turning the chopper as I pull the string. This works to a point, but the shape of the chopper and it's plastic construction make it a bit slippery. Forget it if your hands a bit wet. Also, if you're chopping multiple different seasonings, there are some considerations. I use a flexible spatula to scrape the chopped seasoning out of the container. Because of little ridges around the periphery of the container, it's difficult to scrape all the seasoning out. Also, when you chop onions and other moist vegetables and seasonings, a lot of moisture is left in the chopper and on the blades. So you have to use a kitchen towel or paper towel to wipe the container out and to wipe the very sharp blades clean (be careful), before chopping your next seasoning. But all in all, I like, use, and will continue to use the chopper.

Easy to use and clean.
Great product. I've had this now for a few years and have to tell you it is the best. No batteries or electric plug needed - just pull the cord and chop to your desired consistency. And it's easy to clean.

Little Green Chopping Machine!
Love this little green chopper. I have a little HB electric chopper (which I also love) but his one is just easier to clean and does a wonderful job at chopping everything I've put in it so far; tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc. I put a leftover chicken breast in it and it shredded it beautifully. Yes, you have to chunk everything up, but soooo much faster than dicing everything yourself. Love it so much, I'm gonna get one for my Mom.

So Far, So Good
I have only used this so far, on dicing onions, which was excellent, and a few fresh basil leaves. As there were very few basil leaves to chop, I did not expect too much, but was pleasantly surprised that it did a really good job, considering the very few leaves the chopper had to work with, and being so light in weight. I do recommend this brand, and I am glad that I also bought the bigger size.

Vegetable chopper
Very happy that I found this. I bought it in 2022 and it’s still in very good condition. The blades are still sharp although they were extremely sharp when I bought it. It’s better now as it’s easy to clean now without the fear of cutting my finger :) Highly recommend this amongst other choppers.

Excellent
This is an excellent unit. it does chopping with ease. However, don't put in hard vegetables whole, cut them into smaller pieces first. Will have years of service. Great product.
