How big do the holes have to be to insert the folded toggles?

Each on is different. Back the screw our to it is just in the hinge. Then you can strighten toggle out alignen with the screw. This is the smallest it can get. Measure the toggle at the hinge. Remembet it is squar and it has to fit in a round hole so make it a little bigger.

How much weight can each one hold?

I don’t know definitively but the bolts are very sturdy

Hd suggested these for bar in shower to grab onto. Going through tile grout and wire mesh. Thinking 3 on each end so 6 total. Will that be strong?

The are the best to hold shower rods to drywall but depending on hold close the studs are in the wall. I fell and grasped towel bar. It came out of the wall with screw type anchors and a 3" hole in the drywall but the wing nuts stayed in the wall at the other end of the rack. I will put the towel rack back up with wing bolts. I am over 300 lbs.
