The item is durable.  It is easy to use It is essentially a pencil sized probe total size about 6 inches in length.  It will require cleaning with distilled water to use so as not to contaminate the sample from previous ones.  It appears quite accurate maybe too accurate as it will vary easily in output

Question 2

I will be using this with my aquariums so figure anywhere from 7 - 8.4 for ph.  i am confused as to which calibration solution i need ??

I am looking at the Hanna website and I am seeing that they offer a calibration solution specifically designed for this instrument in pouches and that they recommend that you use pH 4, 7 and 10 for calibration. Typically when you work with these types of instruments, you want to establish a range of known data points(in this case, pH) for the instrument to use as a comparison. Let the customer know that they do not need a buffer with a specific pH, but rather a series of solutions that will allow the instrument to compare a known pH with the material being tested(the aquarium water).  What I would recommend is our pH Meter Calibration and Maintenance set. The Item number is 185740. Let me know if I provide additional assistance.

Hello,  Per the manufacturer  - CALIBRATION• For best results, calibrate frequently.• Dip the tip of the electrode (bottom 4 cm/1½") in pH 7.01 buffer solution at room temperature. Allow the reading to stabilize.• Use a small screwdriver to adjust the pH7 trimmer until the display reads "pH 7.01". • Rinse the electrode with water and dip it in pH 4.01 (or pH 10.01) buffer solution. Allow the reading to stabilize.• With a small screwdriver adjust the pH4/10 trimmer until the display reads "pH 4.01" (or"pH 10.01"). • Calibration is now complete.ALWAYS CALIBRATE USING FRESH BUFFER SOLUTIONS.

Can it be used to test semi solid (like a peanut butter texture) food item and a liquid food item?
