Avenger Reflex Controller-Cheat-Adapter 2017 (no controller included)

Recently bought this product from Amazon as was looking for something to give me a competitive edge in my online multiplayer First Person Shooters. I really wanted this to work, i wanted it to improve my gameplay but it hasn't (and I don't believe it will).The theory sounds good - the avenger enables you to keep your right thumb on the stick rather than remove it to press buttons. There are some things about the avenger I kinda liked. For starters it appears to be well constructed. It's robust and snaps snuggly onto the exterior of your existing controller. I'd dare say these are a complicated beast to manufacture which may account for the high retail price. The access lever for your 'reload' button sits over the L1/L2 button area which in my mind makes sense - if you're reloading then you're not shooting right! I also liked the trigger grips for the L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons. Having historically always been an L1-aim, R1-fire player the trend seems to be moving towards a default L2-aim, R2-fire setup and the avenger certainly helped in this regard.I used this for several days on both Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Battlefield Hardline. I was fully aware that it was probably going to take substantial retraining of existing muscle memory in order to make this work but sadly I am now of the opinion that no amount of practice with the avenger will improve performance.To begin, the most obvious fail is with the 'jump' button (X button on PS4). No matter how hard I tried I just could not use this button and keep my thumb on the right stick at the same time! You physically have to lever the end of your thumb off the top of the right stick to some degree in order to press the button! If you use any sort of device to extend your right thumb stick, such as Kontrol Freeks or similar, you can totally forget about it!I'm also now of the opinion that the physiology of using the thumb and a seperate finger on your right hand to perform two different actions are biomechanically near impossible. At the very least you just do not have any real control over the right thumb stick!These points were really noticable in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare where the constant need to double tap the 'jump' button for exo-movement or use 'circle' for power slide/slam were paramount. The speed of movement and pace of play in advanced warfare just left the avenger far behind unfortunately! Battlefield Hardline with it's slower, more methodical and tactical style of gameplay faired a bit better, but it left me wondering whether there was really any requirement for such an adaption to my controller in this type of game.I think the experience overall has left me wondering whether there really is any requirement for a device like this? The difference in time between lifting your thumb off the stick to press a button versus using an avenger can only be fraction(s) of a second. The two scenarios where this might be important would be 1) fast switch from primary to secondary weapon during an engagement using 'triangle' button and 2) performing drop shot (i.e dropping to prone and firing) when confronted by an enemy. I would say however that the number of times I have died because of either of these two scenarios is very low. The majority of occasions I die because I do not either see the enemy; the enemy are first to the trigger and I'm too slow or my aim is not good enough. The avenger will not help with any of these!Overall I would find it hard to recommend that any person buys this product. I will concede that perhaps my lack of success may be due to my own limitations and/or lack of training time. I will continue to see if I can get it to work, perhaps it just needs more time to retrain my hand lol but deep down I doubt it! I think a search of Youtube failed to bring up any significant 'pro' players who were raving about this device. That says it all in my book.If you really want to improve your gameplay I'd put the money you'd spend on this towards a high end gaming headset - makes such a difference!

For me its fantastic, I chose this over ordering a custom controller (scuff, cinch etc). I don't use it as the manufacturer intended in that I only attach the top half of it and remove the attachment that activates circle as its uncomfortable and wrongly placed, may hands are too large - if they were a little smaller it would work. I also remove the attachment meant for the x button - have tall control sticks which means I can't press it without taking my thumb off the the right control stick anyway. This basically leaves you with two paddles one behind and above each of the trigger button areas. Two is all I need (and all scuff would provide also) - I can change weapon, reload and revive (trials of osiris) on destiny without ever having to take my hand off the control sticks. But by button remapping - available as standard on ps4 via accessibility options in the settings section you could set those two paddles to be any of the function buttons you like. I experimented with switching square to circle so could slide/shadestep instead reload but preferred being able to reload/revive with the paddles. My favourite thing though is where the paddles are - over your trigger fingers rather than underneath - very easy to activate. Tried a scuff and much prefer the paddle position on the reflex. No mods to your controller - no extra money for remappable paddles. One third the price of a scuff. Brilliant.I deduct one star because of the issues mentioned above - the button on the side to access circle doesn't work for me. Same goes for paddle to access x button - removed them. The fact that they can be easily removed and reattached at will is a plus though. Also makes options button a little harder to access but thats no big deal to me.

I can't game without it!AVE A FAN FOR 4 YEARS!From the PS3 TO PS4.The PS3 version is a freak of nature, butndose exactly what isnsays on the tin.You could adjust them a little, but it was a bit of hit & miss, the slightest push & thenarmsmwould snap!But the benifits were made it worth trying. I still have one for PS3.The PS3 mold got broken! The PS4 VERSION once put on looks like it came with the original controller, YOU WOULD BE FOOLED INTO THINKING IT COMES VIA Sony!It's sleeker easier to use &, faster to master!S I love it! But there is a snag here, if you clumsy like me, dropping it the wrong way may break the Trangle 🙋 arm. You can still use it as is, but it wont be the same. Unfortunately getting spares in the UK AINT GONNA HAPPEN! Dispite this I went directly to makers in the US.Not to be unfair i'd say it didn't break 1st time. But it did break!I love it to bits helps me noend,Now its not that easy to put on, there is a nack to it! But if you are heavy handed go watch the video! Before hand or give it to the other half to install:) that way if the break it they pay for a new one:Davy handed once its on you will pick it up quickly & you will get results using it!Not cheap for an addonCons:Can be broken if dropped a few timesDifficult to get parts in the UKDifficult to install 1st time! dont break it (watch a video on you tube)Not cheap for a bit of plasticProsOnce you try it, ya can't put it down,Your score & skill levels will start going higher in a very short time!Its not eletronic gizzardry, You still have to push buttons so its not cheating!
