The bladder can hold about 5L. Ive used this many times on camping trips. Not sure how many litres the filter can take but so far done about 4 trips with it and the water tastes just list it did when the filter was brand new. The water taste is a bit like water from a brita filter. It tastes clean and removes all the nasty stuff that you don't see with a naked eye. Normally I would buy 5 litre jugs of water and carry it to camp site but that's no longer required. This filter is a life saver and doesn't take much space in your backpack. You can break it up into bits to make it fit better in your backpack if you like.

I bought this so that I didnt have to carry lots of water. But I keep reading that people can still become ill even with a filter so perhaps you also want chemical tables to purify your water. The product itself is brilliant, light and probably just what you want. Just check on the plastic bottle screw top size that you want to attach it to as smaller bottles dont fit and nor do large bottles but getting the correct bottle is as easy as buying what ever drink from the co-op, drinking it and reusing that bottle. I have only tested it in the kitchen, it filters quite fast and the plastic pouch seems quality. It all compresses down and can be easily stored in a ruck sack. I have used one properly in the past to filter canal water which I then boilded. The water was clear and tasted "ok". The product (the filter) itself can be used stand alone without the pouch and becomes a straw which I would be happy to use on a hill stream while camping as long as it isnt regularly used by other people going to the loo nearby - its human waste contaminating the water that can make you ill rather than the odd sheep. I read a report that human waste was the reason people using filters like this became ill in Scotland (not animal waste). So from now on in poplular walking sites I'd use either a tablet or boil in addition to this filter. Out in the sticks with normal river water I think it'd be fine with just the filter as long as you're not near a farm - but read up on the risks first.

The kit is very well made and easy to understand. I bought it for emergencies but haven’t used it yet. Having it in the house does instil confidence should we ever lose the water supply for an extended period

Bought for an upcoming wild camping trip. Make sure you prime the filter before using it on dirty water. I bought it and tried it first with tap water to get a feel for it. Primed the filter with clean water first. Then went to my local steam and collected some natural unclean water and put it to the test. The glass on the left is unfiltered water from the steam, the glass on the right went through this straw filter…. I think it’s pretty evident it works. And the water tasted fab! Make sure to follow the instructions after use in terms of back washing the filter…. I saw a lot of nasties come out when I did it - had I not done that it would have dried in the filter and clogged it. To be honest, it was a bit of an effort and definitely mouth fatigued but for the longevity of the filter, definitely worth doing. Inexpensive, compact and great solution for wild campers and also emergency kit should water become contaminated…. Happy customer!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Used for 5 day wild camping trip with no access to clean water. Easy to set up and use, filter rate relatively fast, haven't died of suspicious disease yet! Would recommend to others.

I bought this for a weekend camping trip, and it ended up being one of the most useful pieces of gear I packed. Instead of constantly pumping or filtering water bottle by bottle, I just filled the bag, hung it from a tree, and let gravity do the work while I took care of everything else around camp. The flow rate was better than I expected, and the whole setup was simple to use and easy to pack. It definitely made staying hydrated much more convenient. One thing I really like is that it also works with my LifeStraw filter, which gives me some extra flexibility since I already had one in my camping kit. It's nice knowing the components are compatible. Overall, it's lightweight, reliable, and takes a lot of the hassle out of filtering water outdoors. Whether you're camping, backpacking, or putting together an emergency kit, I think it's a great piece of gear to have.
