Many cats get dumped in our backyard for whatever reason and we take care of ALL of them. But one particular cat I noticed had NO business being outside! So I took him into my home and my heart. He is a true joy. HOWEVER! He is so anxiety ridden, with excessive yowling and has separation anxiety issues! Who knows where he came from or WHAT happened to him. He is just the sweetest thing! But I knew I needed some help so I went to Pet Smart and they recommended this product. You just plug in the diffuser and it calms him right down! It is amazing to see the difference in him! If you have a cat (not for dogs) that is anxious all the time, I truly promise it worth the price, which is rather expensive, but well worth it for your fur babies piece of mind!

We have an older cat and a 1.5 year old. They were having a difficult time sharing common areas, and it got even worse after our basement flooded (where we keep their kitty litter). The older cat started pooping and peeing in our living room - behavior we have never seen from her in 14 years! So we got another brand of pheromone stuff and it worked fine - solved the issue of going outside of the litter box, but we noticed when we switched to this one our younger cat started losing weight (she's a massive fat, lazy butt). We've also seen a huge improvement in how the cats treat each other - the older one tolerates the younger one in her space much better now. I know when the bottles need to be replaced because the cats start to get more irritated with each other! It's pretty amazing how much it works. On spacing issue - how much and where you need these? So, we have about 1000 sq ft home with full basement. We keep one near where the older one hangs out during the day/night and one in the basement about 25 ft from the litter pans. If this didn't work for us, we would have put another one in each the basement and main living area. I may try a third one near where the younger cat spends her time and see if we can't get her weight a bit lower without having to do the timed-feeding stuff (we have always and forever free fed our cats.) I've read the mixed reviews, but if this stuff works to calm your cats, it will be worth the money. And if it doesn't work, you may want to try a different brand.

As far as I can tell, this calms my two brother cats - who are constantly up in each other's fur. They are typical siblings - love each other one minute, then fighting the next. I have discovered less flighting when I have this. But its $$$. It's very easy to use in my opinion, like a plug in. I don't have leakage.

I have to admit. I was skeptical about this simple thing could or even would help my sweet kitty. When we adopted our kitty Peppa, she had been surrendered to a cat shelter when she was just about to have a litter of kittens. By the time we heard about her she had already weened her kittens and was spayed. This cat shelter offers a cage free environment for the cats so they feel at home, moving from place to place freely inside their building. People can move about freely among the cats until they find the cat that appears to be drawn to them. Peppa found us so we adopted her. She became a part of our family. My husband and I are retired and at that time we had 2 yorkie pups, brother and sister. It took a few weeks but eventually the pups and kitty all adjusted nicely to each other. She is an indoor only kitty. At first our kitty seemed happy and did well as an indoor cat. But then we started noticing patches of her fur seemed to have been chewed away around the base of her tail and her lower back. There were even bite marks that were bleeding or scabbed over. We took her to our vet and they immediately prescribed drugs to treat a possible parasite. These meds are very expensive, but to our credit, we thought we were doing the best for our cat. But even after months of giving her the meds, she only seemed to be getting worse. She had pulled out almost all of her fur from the base of her tail near her back, on her belly, and between her back legs now too. I thought there had to be something better out there. Something that actually works without costing a small fortune. So I did some research. I found that you can literally spend thousands of $ trying to figure out why your cat does this and never come to a conclusion. I read that it could simply be separation anxiety from other felines. If you have 1 cat in your home, they may feel overwhelmed and begin chewing and biting their skin. A type of nervousness. Often times, simply getting another cat will resolve the issues. But it is not always possible for a person to have more than 1 cat. The research I read suggests that it’s cat pheromones that seem to be the issue with some cats. That’s where Feliway comes into view. I learned that the feline pheromones in the defuser is what seems to work. So I bought 1 to try, plugged it in and after only a week into the first defuser, I was sold on it and was shocked to find that it was actually working. IT ACTUALLY WORKS!! If you have a similar situation with your cat, I highly recommend this defuser.

It is different to soothe and calm an animal than it is to calm a human being. I tried another companies product online before this one, and if you truely need to calm your animal with pheromones, this is the only one that will do that. I worked for veterinarians for years previously, and I haven't found another product that can and does what feliway products do for our animals. My 1&1/2 year old male cat was marking his territory after moving into a new apartment with me that has carpet, not hardwood flooring. I also have a 5 years old that adores him, maybe a bit too much, and a two year old, that still doesn't understand how strong he is, so that's stressful for my cat as well. It's also stressful for my cat because my children spend time with me some days and then stay with their dad other days. He was marking my kids room and the main living/Dinning room, heavily. I had a few people inform me that they smelled it when walking into my apartment, and I immediately came to Amazon to fix this issue within the home, but choose the cheaper diffuser to start; after 2 weeks and two bottles of no marking spray later, I realized that the other kits sold online aren't feliway, they donot have the right pheromone triggers. As soon as I plug this one in instead, as well as kept cleaning the areas that he was pro-dominantly marking with an enzymatic cleaner (nature's miracle advanced no more odor) my cat started to relax a lot more than he had been, and has stopped using my carpet as his territorial play ground. Yes, this takes work, and a lot of work on any owners end. Find out what the trouble is, after you've gone to your vet to make sure they don't have any infections or diseases that they are trying to tell you they are uncomfortable due to, and make sure you help them calm down with this brands diffuser's and plug ins for their diffuser's. Make the extra attempts to reassure your animal that there are other ways to get their energy out, and that you love them and will try anything they need to make sure that they feel at home and safe and comfortable with you and your family again. Even the move could have triggered this for my cat, however he had so many different stresses within such a short period of time, that as his owner it is my fault for not doing my part by purchasing a product like this for him ahead of time, to ensure I had made sure that he wasn't stressed out enough to start doing these things in our home. Remember we have domesticated cats, but their instincts are still their instincts and we can't change that they have them. Our animals love us, so show them the same compassion and love that they show you. It is similar and you can take steps that you would do if you were potty training a child, and try to recorrect the bad behaviors proactively, not cruelty. I highly recommend feliway products. They can be purchased through your veterinary office, or online through a valid seller.

Very effective but PRICEY!!!

I know that this product is often recommended by veterinarians, and I know that it can be very useful in many cat anxiety situations. However, it did not seem to have any impact on my particular cat. A pity really because I was hoping it would be an easy solution to some of the anxieties that she demonstrates. Therefore, I would recommend that you get a single container if you have not used this with your cat before. If you have used it before, and it has a positive impact on your cat then without doubt this is the most economical way to get refills.

Works well for our cat

We have 2 feral kittens that we are socializing and a 17 year old deaf cat who is not happy about it. They are separate but share a common barrier through which they can see each other. There is a diffuser in each area. Since the kittens are doing well we assume that that one is helping but we know that the one in the older cat's area is working because she stopped howling at night (as some deaf cats will do) when we put it up. Expensive but worth the money. Word of caution - at first we had a diffuser behind an electonic piano which had a plastic cover to protect it from the kittens. The plastic, unbeknownst to us, attracted the oil being diffused and the whole cover and piano were saturated with oil. Fortunately, no harm to the piano. Be sure to put them in an area that isn't covered up and where there's no plastic nearby to attract the diffused oil.
