I love these roller shades! Sesame color is a very close color match to my siding. I purchased these 2 to install on a portion of a wrap-around porch to block the afternoon sun, which is brutal 6 months of the year, to the point of not being able to enjoy the side porch until after the sun is behind the tree line. I ordered the ones that use the hand crank bar to try them out before purchasing the total number needed. They were very easy to install and look great! Manual crank to lower and raise is easy, smooth and not an issue for me. They block the sun enough to where we aren't blinded (or scorched), yet we can still see through them enough to see the cows and calves in the pastures that surround us on 3 sides. Gotta love country living! Downside: 1 of the 2 shades ordered arrived damaged. They were not in a packing carton, but rather in the original "flimsy" plastic casing you'd expect if you were buying them off the shelf at a retail store. I was very disappointed. HOWEVER, I initiated the return of the damaged shade via Amazon, the damaged item was picked up, and I had a replacement 2 days later. The replacement arrived appropriately packaged in shipping-worthy, heavy-duty packaging. No questions were asked, no back-and-forth emails or phone calls necessary. They went above and beyond to ensure I was a satisfied customer. I will be ordering 9 more shades to complete the porch, and I will definitely be ordering the next 3 very soon. 5 stars for the product and particularly for the no-hassle customer service response!

These are great...1 change I'd make is send eyelet screws and a better way to securely connect the blinds to the anchors as I live in a desert area and it was windy when my handyman installed the 4 blinds. He was able to see 1 blind go flying up, first on 1 side then the other and he adjusted the 'anchors' but the 1st one he put in seemed fine while he was here, so it stayed the way he installed it and this AM I saw 1 side hadn't held and then 20 minutes later that blind's other side was loose. I tied down the blind with 2 Nite Ize S-Biner Dual Spring Gate Carabiners, Stainless, 3-Pack, Sizes 2's and a very heavy outdoor metal table (on the leg) with chain and the other side has a cord tied to another heavy piece of outdoor furniture. I had the spring gate carabiners but ordered more today, along with eyelet screws for my handyman to come back to install. Keep in mind that if you live in a windy area, you will need a more secure way to keep these blinds tied down. We get strong wind with heavy gusts in the Spring every year, but like the last 2 days, it can be windy all the time and come in different directions in my residential neighborhood so the blinds need to be strongly kept in place. As to the blinds, they are incredible and VERY effective against the end-of-the-day desert sun that comes into my backyard. Amazing how lightweight the blind is and yet the sun was blocked beautifully from my living room and bedroom windows....and kept the rays of sun from my potted plants. I bought 2 of the 8 X 6 size and 2 of the 6 X 6 sizes. So, almost 1 year later, I've had the end pieces come out from the tubing (tubing is a lightweight metal but the end pieces are short plastic pieces), the plastic notch that the round ring is on has snapped on 2 ends this Spring and we've had to, once again, do some fixes by super glueing the ends into the tubing and now we are trying to just tie down the blinds with heavy duty twine on the 1 blind that had plastic ends snapped off. I wish NO plastic had been used to manufacture these blinds. Then I would not have had so much trouble, because MY fixes are working with the larger blinds (so far) and had it not been for plastic ends in he tubing that I've had to super glue into place and now try to tie down and hope the twine stays ON the tubing, I think I would have had no trouble once I devised a better way to tie them down...It's the plastic that has caused all the headaches from the beginning and this Spring. Coolaroo: PLEASE use a lightweight metal with the loop & ring and not a flimsy plastic that doesn't even go more than 1/2 inch or so into the tube ends. It just can't take even any light wind pulling at it and this could be a really phenominal item if you tested them for real use. I only put them down again about 4 weeks ago when we had near 100 degree weather, but we get Spring winds and not even having the blinds a year (bought last August), I wasn't happy that the plastic ends couldn't hold. If we have to buy again, it won't be this brand unless they start making the bottom ends with metal-ALL metal.

Well made. This is our 5th coolaroo shade. We live on our back porch in the summer. We bought our first shade about 4 years ago and loved it so much we added 4 more to be comfortable no matter the time of day. The first shade works as well as the last one we just installed. Easy to install.

Love the look and privacy we now have. Great for keeping out the Fl sun.

Years ago, I installed two, six-foot Coolaroo shades over the windows on the back bedroom. I put up a ten-foot, and an eight-foot Coolaroo shade on one side of the 'catio'. Being on the Salish Sea, we occasionally have (literal) gale-force winds; not to mention rain and snow. The shades have withstood the weather very well, and have kept the back bedrooms cooler. The shades in the catio greatly reduce the glare from the white single-wide on the lot next door. We've been so pleased with this product that late last week I put two, four-foot Coolaroo shades over the windows of the front bedroom. They have helped reduce the temperature in the front bedroom against the hot sunlight up here at the 49th Parallel. Today we received a six-foot shade for the front room window. I was able to install all of the shades without help; even the ten-foot one. Installation is very simple. My only complaint is that there isn't enough room on the crank bracket to use my drill. With the latest installation, I found that it's easier to mark the hole locations, and drill the holes without the brackets. Coolaroo shades are easy to install, stand up to Pacific Northwest weather, cool our rooms, reduce sun glare and wind buffeting, and we can still see through them. The units are packaged in four-foot by four-inch cardboard tubes, which should be more than adequate for shipping. I ordered two units, and each one was shipped in separate cardboard boxes with packing paper. I did find the packing to be excessive and wasteful. At least I was able to repurpose most of one tube for something else. Better to just put a label on the tubes and ship them that way. The six-foot blind I also ordered was shipped without any packaging at all (not even a tube). Much better!

Great product. I have had it for approx. 10 years now - no color fading, nor loss of UV protection. Rolers work great even though the units (I have 3) are exposed to the weather. One caution, bring the handles indoor when not in use for extended time - they tend to rust easily if exposed to the elements.

I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading some negative reviews, but I am very happy with the purchase. I placed 3 of these on my exterior kitchen windows that get east facing sun and would heat up my kitchen my noon. With these blinds I still get a very slight view of the mountains and some brightness as well but no direct sun through them. They were easy to install and they clip out just as easy for winter storage. We also get some pretty windy days where we are as we are in a valley and the blinds have held up well (every other blinds I have purchased over the last 12 years have always ripped right off). I have kept them anchored down with the clip that came with them.
