Excellent budget friendly for the weekend warrior
I think it’s important to realize that this is $40 and not $150+. I have used a flaring tool exactly twice now and I will be surprised if I use it more than two more times in my lifetime. It’s very infrequent so I didn’t mind getting a cheaper tool. The reason I bought it instead of bumming one off of someone I know is because the cutter still works on copper water lines too so I’m sure to find more use out of it. The reason I got this is I did my own mini split install in my shop. The line set it came with was 15’ and I only needed about 6’. So I cut the two lines and flared them with this tool. The thing I thought was awesome was the attachment I’m holding in the picturing. If you are too aggressive with your cutter you can accidentally fold in the edge of the line making it hard to do a clean flare. This is used first to spread the opening back out to normal diameter so when you use the actual flaring end it will come out smooth and seat nicely on its mating surface. It’s a compact lit that does something like 1/8” - 5/8” lines and it worked out perfectly for my needs and if you just wanna have your own and know you’ll only use it a handful of times then I’d definitely recommend trying this set out.

Makes good flare end for heat pump install
Just finished installing two separate heat pumps this weekend that take flare fittings on the line sets lines. These heat pumps used 3/4 and 3/8 lines sets. We used this tool set to create all the flares necessary to hook up both ends of the line sets and it worked good and created nice flare ends. If your making flare ends, it is important that you ream out the end of the pipe prior to creating the flare to ensure you don't have an inward ridge from the cutting tool. Otherwise your flare won't fit tightly when done. I am happy with the tool set.

Workable for small flares of thin wall SS tubing
This is a pretty good kit for doing basic single 45 degree flares on metal tubing. The one downside I note is that it comes with no instructions whatsoever. Not every buyer will know how to use the tool. The seller could at least attempt to provide some instructions in approximately the English language. If nothing else, they would be entertaining. I bought this to do small flares on stainless steel tubing. I know, the web page says it's only good for soft tubing such as copper or aluminum. I needed it to do some small flares on 3/8" od x 0.028" wall 304 SS tubing. Just small ones, not a full 45 degree trumpet, for the purpose of securing rubber tubing to the stainless with hose clamps. The small flares shown in the pics are sufficient to prevent the hose-clamped rubber tubing separating from the SS tubing. The tool set up well. The clamp fixture bit well onto the tube wall so it did not slip in the clamp when turning the flaring screw. A couple of turns was all that was needed for the small flares I wanted. I wouldn't count on it doing full 45 degree trumpet flares on SS tubing, but at least in this one case it worked for what I need.

Just don't tighten the copper down too tight.
Did the job...👍

It gets the job done, but seems destined for an early failure
With this tool you will need to add the die set to do double flares. The pump piston pin is shedding metal shavings. The function of the hydraulic control is opposite of what the arrows indicate. The dies are clumsy to handle. The attachments fall all over inside the case when you move it from place to place, even when the case is closed. Attachments ae not convenient to put in or remove, but like I said before, it does get the job done, it's just painful.

Everything you want for a bargain price! Flares are better than the 60440
Nearly a perfect tool! It’s not perfect but close. For the price it’s incredible! I’ve always been a fan of the 60440 flaring tool. I absolutely feel this tool makes better flares. I may even add some photos, it really is excellent. Never mind the bad reviews some people don’t know how to use the tool and even posted photos of the tube going the wrong way though the clamp! Lol, then called the makers of the product idiotic. I kid you not look at the photos above!! It makes excellent flares and swages perfectly! Functionality: Flares and swages, almost exactly like the 60440, probably better.
