Excellent book and covers majority of the concepts in all areas through several cases. The best part is that every case has detailed explanation as such why the code behaves the way it does. Even the practice examples have answers which are very nicely explained. Also the exam tips at the end of the book is an additional value add. Great book. Helped me get through the 1z0-808 certification exam. Just combine it with any online simulator and you are good to go. And yes kudos to Amazon for timely delivery. Top stuff really!!

This is one of the best books one can start with for OCA Java Exam. The book covers all the topics in a very lucid language. Though there are some errors but one can refer this link [...] while reading the book. It provides with three mock exams which you can give online too. Additionally, there are flash cards available online to review main topics. Altogether, I found this book worth every penny.:)

this book is helpful to clear OCA exam. It provided lots of similar questions and online assessments as well as mentioned on the cover pages. Do buy this only if you have done your basics theory on Java 8 using some other books such as headfirst or complete reference etc or any other book. Remember this is more of question bank and revise book so use it wisely after you clear your basics

Its a wonderful book. Anyone who wants to learn java 8 or do a java certification can start from this. Concepts are explained clearly.

The book is good, but can be much better. 1 - The language can be more precise since it is a certification guide it should have small and easy to remember sentence formation, the grammar mistakes makes it worse. 2 - The language used should be engaging enough for studying compare it with any K & B books and you will know the difference. Since it is the first version I hope it will improve over the time and since there are no other options for Java 8, this book is good The K & B books are anytime better then this. Seller did a wonderful job on his part before time delivery and follow up for the satisfaction & feedback makes it experience worth mentioning.

While this book can be referred by beginners, it is recommended to have fairly sufficient experience with java. This book helps you fill in the gap you might have with certain concepts and prepares you for the certification. If you are comfortable with Java, want to be certified then buy this without a doubt.

I just passed my Java certification this year. I really used this book a lot. It has some small typo errors, but this is because it's the first edition published. Otherwise, I can see that this was written by developers, the examples are very clear and the errors thatmight arise because of bad code are really well organized and presented. Make the associated exercises in the book and buy also the package from internet and it will be ok. I cannot wait for the professional to appear in December

Ich bin Azubi in Fachrichtung Anwendungsentwicklung im 2. Lehrjahr und habe dieses Buch zur Vorbereitung auf das erste OCA Zertifikat bestellt. Man liest einige Meinungen hier auf Amazon und merkt nur das man es nie allen rechtmachen kann. Manchen scheint das Buch zu knapp geschrieben und unvollständig, kann ja sein, dann lesen Sie doch bitte Java ist auch eine Insel...., manch anderer sagt es wäre zuviel drumrum und nicht kompakt, auch da kann ich nur dieses Inselbuch empfehlen um zu sehen das dem nicht so ist. Wenn man schon eine Programmiersprache kennengelernt hat und keinen 1000 Seiten Wälzer braucht wo noch einmal erklärt wird was der unterschied zwischen einer Variablen und einer Funktion ist, ist mit diesem Werk gut bedient. So ziemlich alles was man (zumindest für die Prüfung) braucht wird kurz, knapp und verständlich erläutert. Die Produkte von enthuware sind mir ebenfalls bekannt und diese wurden von mir auch zur Vorbereitung auf das OCA Examen benutzt und wenn man das Buch wirklich durchliest (nicht durchblättern, lesen) wird man jede Frage Problemlos richtig beantworten können. Das einzige was ich nicht so toll fand waren die Codebeispiele, die gerne am Ende der Seite anfangen sodass man hin und her blättern muss, ansonsten top!

O meu caso é bem específico. Trabalhei com java durante muitos anos, já tinha certificações nas versões 1.4 (SCJP) e 5 (SCWCD), mas tive pouco contato com a linguagem nos últimos anos, inclusive não conhecia nenhuma das novidades das versões 6, 7 e 8. Li o livro inteiro em 10 dias, fiz todos os questionários e simulados do site, e em nenhum deles tirei mais que 75%, e na prova eu tive 90% de acertos. A prova possui questões parecidas com as do livro, mas no livro ele não diz quantas respostas deve-se marcar de propósito, para dificultar. Como na prova você sabe quantas deve marcar em cada questão, torna a prova levemente mais fácil.
