Great for a Wii U.
I bought these to connect an external usb hard drive to a Nintendo Wii U and they work perfectly.

I used this to connect an external HDD to my Wii U. I've had it for some time now, and so far, nothing is on fire. Just plug in the one side to the HDD and the other two to the twin USB ports on the back of the console.

This product worked 100% how i expected it to, i used it with the WII U as the USB port didn't give the External HDD enough power, This resolves that issue.
