The Best Of Candy Dulfer

There is no doubt that the beautiful Candy Dulfer is a very talented Saxophone player. And the musical accompaniment works well with her talent. It is truly a shame her band can't get it through their heads that they JUST CAN"T SING!. "Sax A Go Go" and "Jamming" are examples of this. If they could have kept their mouths shut and played, the music would have been nothing short of awesome.I would pay twice as much for this CD if I could get the music with the vocals removed. I still have to recommend this CD despite these drawbacks. If you play Sax, you can truly appreciate Candy's incredible talent.

Great compilation of Candy's music. Import version better than original. I ordered two copies from seperate vendors in Japan. samurai_media_JPN shipped item quickly, other vendor not yet. This CD in original USA release currently not available at normal price. Recommended if you want a funky upbeat Sax CD.

There are two Candy Dulfer compilations--1996's "The Best Of..."released stateside, and this Japanese import. This is the more danceable compilation (Hence the "Candy Funky Mix" subtitle). It leads off with "Da Bump", which samples the rythym guitar from Kool and The Gang's "Celebration". For stateside readers, this isn't a known tune--she opens with this on the road in Europe, and it JUMPS. Of course, no compilation of Candy's best would be complete without "Lily Was Here"--in fact, I'm sure many fans wouldn't mind "Lily" being on EVERY CD CD. But this is a party CD, with the exception of the live performance of "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Donja" from Saxuality. Five of the songs come from "Sax-A-Go-Go", which really isn't a great surprise ("2 Funky", the title track, "Bob's Jazz", "Jamming", and her cover of AWB's "Pick Up The Pieces"), since she really captured a lot of funky at that time (1993). If you have the US/European "Best Of..." CD, I don't feel this one should be passed up. This is a CD by CD that can be played at a party, whereas the "regular" compilation is more a traditional Smooth Jazz CD--in short, one that should be played while cooking dinner with candlelights for someone special.

耳馴染みが良く、気分が明るくなる曲が盛り沢山で、ノリノリになりました。サックスの音色も非常に良いです。彼女のサックスはポップなのに重厚感があり、何度も聴きたくなります。サックスの音が好きな私にとっては大当たりのアルバムです。

ベスト・オブ・キャンディ・ダルファー前から聴こうと思いながら。。。いいですね、最高です。

サックスという楽器は知っている人と知らない人とがいますが、僕は知らない人のほうが多いように思います。そこで聞いて欲しいのがこの一枚です。今までサックスを聞いたことが無い人でも抵抗無く聞けるのでは？もちろん、「サックスはずーっと昔から知ってるわい！」と言うような方も「お！これは…」と思うこと間違い無し。「クラシック以外は全然聞かないよ」というような人も聞いてください。音楽の幅が広がると思います。とにかく「買い」の一枚です。キャンダル最高!
