Maglite LED 2-Cell D Flashlight, Black

I see all of these other flashlights that boast 10,000 lumens, but is it really? I don't need a flashlight that is so bright that it can set a piece of paper on fire or burn the retinas of passerbys. This flashlight is bright enough for what I need it for. I could see several hundred feet in front of me on the brightest setting. Also it's durable. I accidentally dropped it off of my back deck, about 15 feet high, and the flashlight landed on the patio, made of concrete. I thought it would have shattered, but it only made a small scratch on the top! Not as heavy as they used to be back in the day. However, they are durable and get the job done. Don't waste your money on other ones advertising tens of thousands of lumenz. This is the real deal and a great value for the price

Recently, I walked down to our neighborhood cluster mailboxes long before the sun was up. I took this flashlight along because it is difficult to see what is what down there without some sort of a light, there are deer in the neighborhood, and there have been recent reports of two large coyotes prowling the area. Frankly, I don't want to stumble onto either type of animal. The Maglight has a nice heft and gives a sense of security to me. And, it is bright. Did I say bright? It is piercing. I could see things clearly blocks down the street. Coming back, I rounded the corner to our driveway and shined it at the houses across our little valley, about 1/4 mile in a straight line. I was astounded to find that I could easily determine the details on the houses from that distance. God, if my grandparents could have seen a flashlight like this, they would not have believed it. They would would have thought it was a trick.

Best flashlight on the market. Bright light, weighted handle. What’s not to like? Have had it for years and it’s still my go to when the power goes out. I’ve also bought them for family members and as practical housewarming gifts.

I have to say I was beginning to think it was going to take MagLITE forever to bring out a LED flashlight. Surefire and Eletrolumens have been out for years with quite reasonable (and bright) LED based flashlights, and to be honest, some of their offerings are probably still better than the MagLITE (a bit brighter, perhaps a bit better on the LED technology). But they are also much more expensive. MagLITE, for better or worse, has always been the gold standard. First, you can buy one just about anywhere, parts are readily available, and they are well engineered and made. The switch is easy to use and reliable, and the ability to focus the beam is very good. It doesn't weigh a lot for a non-plastic flashlight. Pretty easy to grip, without ripping up your hand. But MagLITE took forever to come out with an LED version. If you're being honest, there's two crucial aspects, reasons why you need LED in a flashlight: (1) They don't break. If you stumble and drop it, or bump it (which is going to happen, you're using a flashlight in usually confined or not lit conditions, so it's going to get knocked around), no problem. No need to replace the bulb (even if you had one). (2) They last longer. You cannot always plan how long you are going to need to use the flashlight. LEDs give you 3-10X the battery life. Granted, you lose a few lumens, but LED is definitely the way to go. The MagLITE is ideal for around the home or in the car, well worth the extra money over the plastic variants, and well under the price of the fancier Surefire and Elecktrolumens competitors.

It doesn't get much better than these, this Maglite flashlight just feels right in the hand and is built like a rock. I have multiple units, in varying sizes and colors, in different rooms of the house in case of losing power. additionally, I have a "pocket" Maglite for use on my job (i work as a sound technician and often need to explore pitch black racks filled with wires.). These flashlights are bright, you have the ability to focus them, and they are not battery hogs (which give the impression that they simply always work, which they pretty much do) they aren't cheap, but things that are built like this generally aren't at the bottom of the price scale. Essentially, it feels like the Rolex of flashlights - a solid, timeless design that has been proven with time. There are better, even more specialized units, ones that have more features, etc. This is the real deal -- when you handle it, you know it will last for decades and provide the same service as day one 25 years on.

Coming from a maglite 2D LED user for about 1 year, I must say this maglite that I ordered recently is indeed a better version. I bought my first maglite 2D LED about a year ago. That was already a great product. Thus, I left it in my dad's car. This new one is for home usage. I enjoyed it as the brightness was significantly better than the non-led buld kind of maglite. However, this latest Maglite 2D that I just receied is even better. Upon turning on, immediately I could tell that it is much brighter that my previuos one. This new LED Maglite also seem to emit less heat than my previous set. In my previous set, after say 15 mins of operation, I could felt the heat on the head of the light. But this new maglite has none. Or perhaps very little heat that i couldn't feel it. I have yet to try the battery life, but base on the logic that the new LED emit less heat, I think it should have improved battery life. One of the reason why I prefer Maglite is the fact that it has lifetime warrenty and it is a tough light that is water resistant.

２５年ぐらい前までマグライトを愛用していました。明るく、頑丈で、落としても球切れしない。 そこにLED化の波が来て、それに先行した、軽くて明るいメーカにシフト。 しかし、接点不良を起こしたり、浸水して基盤が焼けたりといったトラブルを経て、再びマグライトに戻ってきました。やっぱり技術の蓄積があるメーカの製品は一味違います。 職場でひよっこだった頃見た、何でもこなす大先輩たちの持つシルバーに鈍く光る使い込んだマグライト。自分もあんな風に活躍できるようになれたらいいな。 そういう絵を描くために購入したのかもしれません。 後日談 妻が見つけて、 ”これ明るいし、かっこいいし、電池も減らない。いいね” ということで、自分のものではなくなりました。強いほうが勝つのです。そう、マグライトのように。

I bought this for my father when he was going on a trek to Kumaon. I was obviously concerned about his safety and the fact that I wanted the flashlight to have a good range. I was unable to find anything in the local market which could illuminate anything beyond 50m and then I found this one... It is BEYOND Amazing!!! I could actually read the text on the water cistern in an apartment near to mine. It easily illuminates to a distance of 300m. It is slightly on the pricier side but well worth the spend if safety and proper equipment are a concern. It was for me and I was super happy with this purchase. And it was fulfilled by Amazon so I got it superfast! Very happy with the purchase. And I got a package which says 412m only.

Un grande classico rivisitato con tecnologia led. Esistono modelli con potenza maggiore o gestione evoluta del fascio luminoso (bassa potenza, media o piena e strobo) ma il costo è molto più elevato. Consigliata per l'auto e l'outdoor anche se da portare nello zaino è un po' pesante. Perfetta per il campeggio. La torcia è molto robusta e ben rifinita, il fascio è abbastanza chiaro e consente di illuminare a grandi distanze, Maglite dichiara 388 metri.

In den letzten Jahrzehnten habe ich schon andere Taschenlampen von Mag-Lite benutzt. Die hatten aber sämtlich Glühbirnen. Zu seiner Zeit waren diese Lampen schon sehr hell und man hat sie gern genutzt. Mittlerweile leben wir aber im Zeitalter der LED. Zum Glück ist Mag-Lite mit der Zeit gegangen und hat nun auch Modelle mit LED im Angebot. Die Taschenlampe hat gewohnt gute Qualität und leuchtet, verglichen mit den alten Modellen mit Glühbirne, natürlich deutlich heller und weiter. Wir eine robuste und zuverlässige Taschenlampe sucht, die ordentlich Licht macht, des mit dieser Taschenlampe gut beraten. Man sollte jedoch bei einer Taschenlampe dieser Größe (und dass es noch eines der kleineren Modelle) immer an das Gewicht denken. Sowohl die Taschenlampe selbst als auch die großen Batterien haben Gewicht. Es empfiehlt sich eine Gürtelhalterung hinzu zu kaufen, wenn man die Taschenlampe auf längere Wegstrecken mitnehmen möchte.
