I suspect Amazon has linked this review to multiple similar items as it has on others because I do not doubt the others who say their rulers were made in Germany. But, as the previous commentator replied, the description says this one is made in Japan. Another possibility, the seller has switched items but not updated the ad?

Does it have architect and engineering scale ?

It only has the architect scales.

Does it read 1/8? I need a Architect scale 1/8 for class, was just making sure this was the correct size scale.

Yes it has 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 , 1" and 1 1/2". Happy New Year

What's the difference between a student and a professional architectural scale? The professional obviously costs more.

I believe the difference in cost is due to the professional scale having the markings etched into the scale. A student model simply has the measurement markings painted on to the scale. If you don't subject the scale to constant use buy a student model, it's accurate enough for DIYers.
