This is the third of these flashlights that I've bought. The other two are still fine and working well after a few years of home use. I wanted another one for my wife's night table (I have one on my side) and wanted all the flashlights to have the same operating controls, so you'd know how to use it, whichever one you grabbed. The end cap has the on/off switch, and you can even just give it a soft press to turn the light on. The brightness button has a few settings. I keep the ones in the bedroom at the dimmest setting which is good if you need a light in the middle of the night. It won't blow out your eyes with super brightness. However, there is a mode for that! Super bright will suck down battery power, but it's very bright. the two mid brightness settings are also very handy. The compact size makes it easy to use, and I guess it's waterproof because there are O-rings on the pieces that open/unscrew. I started using rechargeable AA batteries in them and have no problems.

This is a great flashlight, haven't reviewed for battery life or night vision as I just received it. Small, lightweight, very bright and I like that you can switch between different brightness levels as needed. One thing that should be improved is the instruction booklet in the packet. No instruction at all on what batteries it takes or how to put in the flashlight. I have similar ones, so just guessed by size and configuration that it was 2 AA batteries and how to put them in. Thought it was broken as it would not turn on when I pressed the button on the bottom. Turns out I had to also press a tiny silver button located on the end where the bulb is located. Instructions do describe that this button switches the brightness and switches to "firefky mode" and to switch to Strobe Mode. However, you must press it to turn on the light initially as well. This was not described at all in the booklet or on the box. Just some feedback for purchasers who are less patient and won't experiment to figure out how to turn it on. Other than that I am happy with the flashlight. It is on the pricy side, so will review again if battery life or any other items are not to spec.

Feels like quality in the hand ... 4 brightness levels. Moonlight .low .mid. High and Strobe Lights up my yard with no problem at all...love the fact that it takes 2 AA batteries for a quick easy change... And also has a memory mode... Whatever brightness you had on last that's the one that would go on when you power it on.... And to use the strobe mode just power it on and hold the button down by the lens👍.. Happy Customer....

Nice little flashlight. I like the size and weight. I also like that it takes AA batteries, its ready when you need it.. you don't have to realize too late that you forgot to recharge it. The light output seems powerful, and very adequate for my needs .

Most important this light returns to the last used setting!! Well built, good brightness choices and good beam coverage.

This is an excellent and very high quality small flashlight, very bright and rock solid. The light is adjustable to three levels of brightness and also has a strobe setting - these are controlled by the button at the top of the flashlight. The on-off switch on the bottom of the flashlight only turns the light on or off. The feel of the switch operation, how the flashlight feels in your hand - all of this just reinforces how well this small light is manufactured. Of course the effectiveness of the light is less than a larger light, and this is not what I would use to light up an entire room. It is very suitable for lighting into small areas and for objects that are not too far away. This particular light has been the Wirecutter recommendation for several years, and it lives up to that pedigree. I am very satisfied with this light.

I bought this flashlight on the recommendation of a few “best of” list that went through. It was the number 1 on many lists and the price was very affordable. I have been a devoted fan of the Nitecore brand for many years. Love their stuff albeit a higher price (~$60) compared to ThruNite. The reason for only 4 stars is this flashlight will randomly stop working on many occasions. I’ve owned it for about 2 months and I can say in that time it has happened about 8-10 times. That’s a lot and dependability is not a small issue. I don’t like shaking, tapping, clicking, disassembling a flashlight when I reach for it to use since that’s why I’m reaching for it..I need it to work now. All that being said for the price paid it’s not a bad one. I will probably go back to Nitecore since it never happened with theirs in 10 years time.
