Who's in the Garden?

At first I was a bit disappointed with this book. My daughter, then eight months old, was not very interested in it though she loved almost all her other books. She is now almost a year old and in the past few months she started pulling it off the shelf again. She loves looking at the pictures and picking out the animals. I think the pages were too complex and crowded when she was littler, but now she enjoys taking in the pictures and searching out the animals. This is a big, sturdy, colorful book. Each spread has a little window giving a peek at the next animal to be discussed. The rhymes are pleasant with just the right amount of words. The illustrations are in a pretty collage style. I would recommend it.

This is a lovely read-aloud for a young toddler (my little one is 15 months and we've had it for a few months). He loves the peekaboo windows and it's a very sturdy book than can withhold the roughness of a toddler. It has repetitive phrasing and animal sounds. It's nice to see some animals beyond the farm animals that appear in every other book! This is a big book, so it takes up a bit of space on our shelf and is a little heavy for my son to hold.

Great colors and art, simple short story. Good for my 2yr old grandson.

I purchased this book because I liked the idea of having an opening in the page that showed the animal on the next page thus the child would have to name the animal before getting the answer. This would enforce the learning of animal names. Given all the positive reviews, I thought this would be the best garden book with peek-a-boo openings to purchase..... However, i think the book could have been better art-wise. The pages were at times too busy and over-packed so it was hard to focus on the main animal. The book was less busy than its farmyard counterpart, but half of the book still could have used some editing. Therefore, my favorite pages in the book are the pages for the rabbits, bees, and moles because those pages focused on the main animal and showed clear animal behavior. Overall, my son did not like this book as much as the forest one, but it ended up being my favorite especially the less cluttered pages.

Very cute and colorful book that my granddaughter loves. I gave it to her with the Green Toys 3 piece set (Watering Can, Rake, and Shovel).

I am so in love with this book. The illustrations are vibrant and captivating, and the text is darling. I am a gardener and my little one lives to help, so I know she will love this book. It is large, sturdy, and high quality. The peek-throughs are a fun element.

You can read and point out a lot of first words!

Cute book and granddaughter loves it!

We just love this book. There’s lots to look at on each page, the illustration is great, it can be interactive, and it is one of those books you read and reread.
