What type of soy sauce is this? Dark, Tamari or light?

Although Yamasa Soy Sauce would be classified as dark,it is extremely mellow and well balanced without the blast of salt one normally associates with soy sauce.It is the perferred soy sauce in Japan and except for their super premium brands Kikkoman would seem crude by comparison!.

is Yamasa free of GMO's and preservatives?

Hello!Believe preservative free not sure about gmo- I was married to a well known Japanese chef for 10 years and even when visiting his family in Japan it is what he bought.He had a very shrewd palate and even though we are no longer married I will say he has great taste.

Is this made in Japan or the US?

On the back it says brewed by Yamaha Corporation Choshi, Chiba Japan. Under that it says PRODUCT OF JAPAN
