Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher ! Jack Reacher’s Rules is the ultimate fan’s guide to the World of Reacher! Featuring selections from all seventeen electrifying Jack Reacher novels and an introduction from Lee Child himself, this one-of-a-kind book compiles timeless advice from maverick former army cop Jack Reacher, the hero of Lee Child’s blockbuster thrillers and now the star of a major motion picture. My name is Jack Reacher. No middle name, no address. I’ve got a rule: People mess with me at their own risk. You don’t have to break the rules if you make the rules. Case in point: Jack Reacher, the two-fisted, quick-witted, “current poster-boy of American crime fiction” ( Los Angeles Times ). The brainchild of #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child, Reacher is a freelance troubleshooter with a mysterious past—and a serious passion for justice. Now the hard-won knowledge and hard-hitting strategies of fiction’s toughest tough guy are within every thriller reader’s reach—in a rapid-fire rundown of the trade secrets, tried-and-true tricks, and time-honored tactics that separate the man in the street from the man to beat. Rule 1. When in doubt, drink coffee. Rule 2. Never volunteer for anything. Rule 3. Don’t break the furniture. Rule 4. Only one woman at a time. Rule 5. Show them what they’re messing with. Please note: Jack Reacher’s Rules is a compilation of advice, wisdom, and facts from the Jack Reacher series of novels by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child. It features an introduction by Lee Child, but is not a Jack Reacher novel. Review: Great insight into WWRD. - For all those people who gave this one star, SERIOUSLY? I mean I read the description of what this book was, and had no illusions about the content! This is supposed to be a fun little excerpt of how and why Reacher acts how he acts. It's sort of his "rules to live by" book, with a few extras thrown in. I can't believe there are Reacher fans complaining about this. I loved it. I've been a fan for years and will happily add this to the collection. Why anyone would think this was more than what the description details, especially when Child just came out with a full story in September, is beyond me. If Reacher is one of your heroes, as he is mine, then you'll love this book and it's What Would Reacher Do attitude. The only thing I didn't like was the "Things you'll never hear Reacher say" parts. Didn't need those. Just read the book, and imagine it's Jack running down his lists of morals, tips, and behavior. If you're a true fan, you'll enjoy this for what it is, not what you were expecting it to be. Review: If you are a Jack Reacher fan this book will provide an informative background of the character. - Lately I have become somewhat of a Jack Reacher fan. Even though I saw the movie some time ago starring Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, I still did not search out the books about the guy. Recently I was given the first Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child and after reading it I was hooked. I like to know everything about a character in an action novel and decided to purchase this book (Jack Reacher’s Rules) which gives an interesting and informative outline of how Jack thinks about all kinds of things. I found this 152 page hardcover book, with an introduction by Lee Child, who created the Jack Reacher character, a quick and enjoyable read. It covers more than 55 areas of Jack’s rules which came from the Lee Child’s numerous novels. Some of the areas covered include the following: “Be prepared, choose your weapons, the United States Army Military Police, the rules of coffee, conquer your fear, confronting death, cracking codes and passwords, fighting, fighting tips, hand-to-hand combat, how to shake hands, hitchhiking rules, West Point, Lessons learned in the military, Hogan’s alley, how to tell if they’re lying, Reacher’s moral code, the science of the perfect shot, why it’s not smart to have a phone, how to win the battle, how to win the war” and much, much more. Even though some of the reviews were critical of this book I personally liked it because it gave me a guide to follow when I read more of Jack Reacher novels. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. This book is a great buy! Or would be, at 99 cents. :/
Like many of the previous reviews, I pre-ordered this book and am more than slightly disappointed. Not because of the content, which as a major Reacher fan I found to be *mildly* entertaining. But for $10? Gimme a friggin break. I feel totally ripped off, let down and misled. "A Wanted Man" got a LOT of mixed reviews, yet as a Reacher fan I went ahead and bought it & found it to be one of the less-entertaining books in Mr. Child's Reacher series (a little slow overall), but still a decent read for the money. This book OTOH, is an insult, a pure money grab. It would have been a splendid addition as "bonus material" in A Wanted Man...people might have complained less about that book if they'd included Reacher's Rules at the end. On its own however, this book is a waste of money.

If LEE CHILD writes it I WILL read it!
I would give most of this author's books 4 and even 5 stars...the only reason I didn't give "Jack Reacher's Rules" a 4 star is because there is no plot or story...it just really defines Reacher's personality which Lee manages to keep consistent and interesting throughout all his novels. I, like others, love Reacher's sarcastic sense of humor which this book doesn't show you as much. However, Lee Child might be the only author who could have written a book like this and made it interesting. I am not a new fan but an old one...when you read as much as I do it's difficult to keep finding outstanding novels...all of Lee's books are excellent...I have not seen the Reacher movie because Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher (Jack is 6'4" and Tom is 5'7"???).

This is a fun book to read.
This is a glossary for the Jack Reacher books and the standards that define Jack Reacher’s character and his behavior. It highlights the defining principles that make Jack Reacher the Robin Hood of our time. Every group needs to have a set of rules and an oath that distinguishes from the rest of the world. The US Military has the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), the Boy Scouts have the Scout Law and the Scout Oath. The Jack Reacher Club has the “Jack Reacher Rules.” Our world would surely be better if we had a Jack Reacher around. These Rules are consistent with the character defined by Raymond Chandler in describing a Hero. I agree with Chandler when he said that, “If there were enough like him (JACK aka HERO), he thought the word would be a safer place and one not too dull.

Disappointing-- a trifle of a book
I don't read Reacher books with the expectation that I will stumble upon the next War and Peace or Anna Karenina-- I read them because I enjoy a detail-driven bang-up, tense, and humorous thriller sometimes. The idea of a book that outlines Reacher's philosophy and techniques for survival is an interesting one. A book that is part field manual, part tactical assessment guide, and part Art of War could be a fascinating read with practical application-- heck, it could be one of those crossover business books that teach one how to navigate shark-infested waters. Instead, we got a slightly quotey rehash of stuff already in books, a glossing over of some basic acronyms, and a trifle of a read that just doesn't live up to the potential of the series. This is less Demigod Diaries and more Tales of Beedle Bard: both are adjuncts to popular series, but while one is a great bathroom read, the other is better for other paper-related restroom tasks. This definitely falls into the latter category.

Absolutely Wonderful!
This book is so good that I have it checked out from my local library, right now. I decided I wanted to have it forever. That is why I bought it. Than you to the Author, Lee Child for writing such wonderful books!

Genuine “Reacher Fun”
Why is Reacher Reacher (and all that comes with that statement eg beloved)? Awareness of Rules, his rules are one way to appreciate why. Biography in a clever form.

Bluddy good laugh
Not exactly what I was expecting but still a good read.. a compilation of Jacks sayings, codes, way of life, expectancy’s. It had me laughing at times and remembering books I had read that in.

A spin-off from the books and TV series.
Having read 17 Reacher books in their original publication sequence, I have arrived in 2012, still stuck in the recent past. We have now 30 novels in print. Published in 2012 as “Jack Reacher’s Rules”, this is a collection of thoughts, sayings and life lessons that our protagonist has finely honed into rules and standards to live by. These are not new to a reader as they can be identified as quotes, lifted from the books or derived from Reacher’s approach to life. This copy that I read was revised and republished in 2022 and now includes an interview between author Lee Child and actor Alan Ritchson the star of Prime’s Reacher series. Time has indeed marched on. Reacher is more successful and familiar to new and wider audiences. I have deferred watching the TV shows until I am up to date with the written narrative. Lots to read still, including those short stories that have extended the literary journey. Books like this are a treat. They cement and reaffirm the uniqueness of the character that we perceive to be Jack Reacher. Evidence why we pick up the next book or buy the latest hardback release. Why we are drawn to and stick with this wonderful antihero and binge watch episodes on tele. I loved this book. It reflects the Reacher I love and reminds me why I spend time sharing his journey in print and onto our TV sets and movie screens. A must for any Reacher fan, a reference point rather than a prayer missal. A fun collection of a lifestyle as opposed to a political dogma like “The Little Red Book” of the sayings Chairman Mao Tse-Tung. A novel, even at over 500 pages, is an event, a literary joy. But it is quickly read and mostly forgotten. “Reacher’s Rules” is a keepsake, a book of treasures. A familiar friend and potentially a faithful companion to read and remember and delight in this interesting and resourceful character. Fiction at its best. With a life of its own.
