Taurine originates in China. No US manufacturer exists for this raw ingredient. It is FDA inspected and passed a safety analysis.
Around 95% of the world's raw nutritional raw materials are manufactured in Japan, China and Korea.
Only one manufacturer of amino acids (our most common type of nutritional product) is located in the USA and they currently only manufacture 3 amino acids.

Many nutritional manufacturers located in the USA will print "Made in the USA" right on their labels, but what they don't tell you is that everything EXCEPT the actual nutritional raw materials are made in the USA.

What is the difference between taurine and l-taurine?

There are no D- and L- forms of taurine. It is not an alpha-amino acid and has no chiral forms. You can see from the formula that there is no chirality center (carbon atom with four different substituents). There is only one form of taurine and one cannot distinguish between natural and synthetic. For proteiongenic amino acids (alpha-amino acids) there are D- and L-forms, except of course glycine, and only L- is the natural form. You can check if an alpha-amino acid is contaminated by D- form because it tastes bitter. None of the L-amino acids taste bitter. They have meaty, milk, or egg-like tastes.

The capsules are very difficult to open.  They have to be cut opened.  The capsules contain powder that can be poured out.
