Literally saved $650 by doing it myself
This item couldn't be easier to install. Plumber quoted me $750 to repair our shower. I bought this product for less than $100 and 15 minutes later the shower was fixed.

Fix leak
Kohler 1046104 Thermo Cartridge fits into K-669/K-670/K-679/K-680 mixer valve. Pull White Plastic Large C clip 1043822 from head nut using needle nose pliers. Head nut 1035234 is hex = 1 1/2 inches, and I had to use a pair of channel locks; it unscrewed easily. Take note of the colored tabs on front of new cartridge and their orientation. Remove O-ring like seals from new cartridge and apply silicone lubricant to said O-rings. Re-install the now lubricated O-rings. Kohler has 1046102 seal kit you can buy if you lose or damage the O-rings, which you wont - because you are careful. My new 1046104 service kit did not come with silicone, even though page 5 of instruction booklet (comes with service kit) says silicone is provided. Once the head nut is unscrewed, then you are faced with how to remove the old thermo-cartridge 1046104. It pulls straight out, and can take some force to do so. I used my channel locks to grab it and pull. New cartridge pushes in (after cleaning inside of the mixer valve), make sure tab orientation is correct. There are instruction for turning supply stops fully CCW on page 5, but I instead turned water off at the house mains. Don't lose the white plastic C clip, the kit does not have a new one.

Perfect fit for my K-670 thermostatic valve. Stopped the vibration/noise coming from the original one. Remove the small screw and yellow plastic cap before installing.

Works well without the need to adjust the detent. Drop in replacement for K-669-KS-NA. I recommend shutting off water to the valve and not relying on the integrated supply stops when installing!
