Very good chain saw with excellent safety feature at a very low price

I bought this having seen it in a DIY store, I'm not a lumberjack and I'm not cutting down loads of trees, just cutting up logs into smaller chunks for our wood burner. It was a little tricky to put together, mostly getting the chain on was a bit fiddley but once it was put together it worked very well and was more powerful that I expected. It might not be clear but I needed to buy oil as well (this is essential) and once I had it going it cutting up the logs with ease (I would recommend you fully understand the length of the blade). Every now and then I did need to stop sawing to clear the sawdust from the machinery but that wasn't a huge issue. The only other negative point is that the power cord isn't particularly long but I have a good long extension lead which solves that problem.

This is a great chainsaw. For occasional garden use, for managing a few overgrown trees it is perfect. I used it to cut down a few trees around 8-12 inches in diameter and it coped really well. I'd recommend wearing good quality gloves, visor and safety trousers, as any chainsaw is a dangerous. I'm a big fan of Bosch, having bought many of their products over the years. Great quality, feels solid, good instructions on assembly, includes power cord. It's still quite noisy, only about 25% less noisy than a chain saw, so try to use sparingly and ideally not at weekends. Only way it could be better is if it mentioned that you need chainsaw oil to use. I didn't order any, so that postponed my use by 10 minutes, I popped to Homebase and got some for £5. Great product!! highly recommend.

Great piece of kit for an electric chainsaw. It cuts as good as a petrol. Make sure you use safety kit as this bad boy takes no prisoners!

I've been able to cut down a huge overgrown apple tree in my garden with the use of this saw. It is not the biggest or toughest available but it is very capable of dealing with large trees. The height was about standard semi-detached sized house roof and almost twice the width of the saw reach. The key I found was take it slow, use the locating teeth to walk the saw slowly across the branches and trunk. You also have to adjust the tension often and keep it topped up with oil or you will have issues and you don't want a lose chain flying about. The light weight was helpful as the access to the trunk was not easy.

This is an excellent chainsaw. However, it is difficult to tighten the chain, because the "wheel" which you turn to do so (shows red in the picture) is hard to grip. My previous chainsaw (Bosch AKE 35-17S) had a bigger & thicker "wheel" with "grips" on it.

Nowhere near the standard of professional equipment, but perfect for a DIYer like me doing a few jobs per year. I wouldn't use on anything that was more than about 8 inches in diameter. Can get clogged from time to time so keep an eye on that.

AWful. Not what I expected from Bosch. The chain gets stuck on the bar. The tightening mechanism really jams up and is totally unclear how it works. After about 15 seconds, the chain immediately falls off no matter how "tight" you get it, and then the chain sprocket tightens up so it can't be moved. Dreadful design. Avoid.
