Speed reading 101
Speeding reading 101. Introduce to some speed reading techniques and the reasoning behind those techniques, which is great. But speed reading itself isn't magic, it takes efforts and mindfulness. The title is exaggerated that is why I take off one star.

Practical and immediately useful lessons
I found the instruction to be clear, easy to read, and practical. I found myself using the teachings immediately. The sections on retaining more of what you read are gems.

The Best Guide to Speed Reading
I’ve tried countless speed reading books and apps, and they never seemed to truly help me read faster after I finished the exercises. This book is radically different. I’ve easily doubled my reading speed—and I haven’t even finished the book yet. Great book, excellent descriptions, and helpful practice drills to use within the book and in other reading materials to ensure that you’re able to put each technique into practice. I’ll probably reread this book a few times until it all really sinks in. I can’t recommend it enough.

Not a bad place to start
I'm a master's student at the University of Texas, which means I read a lot, more or less it's my life right now. So I've studied plenty about reading and learning including Jim Kwik and Evelyn Woods, and even the newer authors in the sphere. I can honestly say this one stands out in many respects. First, the book backs up its claims with research. Majority of the other guys don't support their claims like this book, which cites a wealth of journals, publications, and experts. Even common sense suggestions have support. Second, the writing is solid. It's easy to read, the content is carefully organized, and Kam's explanations are insightfully creative, so you're not just reading a bunch of instructions, but instilling better habits. It's an experience, you have to read it to understand. Third, as a masters student, I not only have to read a lot, but understand, remember, and spit back that info, either in exams, presentations, or meetings. As the book stresses over and over, increasing speed without increasing comprehension is "not" speed reading, so you'll learn many strategies for raising understanding and memory with the speed. Fourth and the main reason the book stands out, are the novel techniques not in other books, like Space Reading. For me, Space Reading was hands down the best and easiest way to improve my reading speed and comprehension, it was almost instant. The technique single handedly tripled my reading ability and now I race through books in record time. Though it is not without its flaws. No doubt some of the tips are obvious and common sense, and some you have already learned, but all in all, it's not a bad book. The techniques do work so if you're new to speed reading, I'd start here as the writing and explanation make the concepts easy to grasp and apply, and using the techniques is what matters more than learning a bunch of stuff you never put to practice.

Useful information
I liked how easy the techniques are made to be understood, and the fact that there are also practice drills after each technique is explained. As a person who reads quite rarely, doing all the drills and everything the author suggested took me a while more than I expected (I do confess I also skipped some drills), but that's mainly me and my lack of focus. I can't give this book less than 5/5. Some techniques are VERY useful for "beginner" readers (those who read less or are not reading in their mother tongue), and some of the stuff seemed useful even for the most skillful and avid readers. Highly recommend

Fantastic book!
This is an excellent book on speed reading! Kam Knight's book is now a part of the personal department section of my personal library in addition to my Evelyn Wood book on speed reading.

Happy Purchase. Helpful book.
Pros: helpful tips to improve speed reading. It provides drills/exercises to implement what you are learning in each chapter. Easy to understand. Cons: more exercises with questions and answers would be beneficial to test comprehension. Sometimes analogies or stories used to explain a specific point did not resonate with my learning style but it might help others. I would recommend this book because I genuinely think that if you follow the instructions within, you will reach your goals. It’s a very short book with large font and clearly structured chapters. You really can’t go wrong if you buy this title. There are more speed reading techniques that the ones included in this book. But, this is not relevant, just an observation. What matters is what you can achieve with the tools this author is providing you with. My experience is Plenty!!! Fun and entertaining book that encourages any person of any age to improve reading and comprehension while studying or reading while in the train or plane. Long lasting skills for life. Fast delivery and it reads well. Congratulations to the author! I am sure many people will learn new tips and others will refresh old knowledge. In both cases, this is done effectively and in a lightweight manner. Nothing to complain about.

Appreciative for the authors work!
I never place a review but i was amazed with the impact this book had on my reading abilities that i could not! The book is easy to read, good explained and straightforward. It explains just enough for u to understand the point without making the book too heavy without necessity as many authors tend to do. The tips are really practical and i’ve experienced a big shift in how i read, process and understand information almost immediately. Really grateful for this work!

A breakthrough for me
This book helped me understand what was holding back my reading speed: fixating on individual words. I used to try to move my eyes faster over the page while still trying to consciously take in every word, lest my comprehension would drop. But because some words require a longer fixation time, this caused me to either regress or slow down. Reading was a wrestling match between my brain and my eyes. I also never managed to keep the subvocalization under control. I could feel my vocal cords moving. Space Reading changed all that almost instantly. To my surprise, I can read at a constant speed and take in the words with my peripheral vision (which I still intend to expand further by training). I haven't got an exact number on the speed increase, but I'd say it easily doubled, without any training! The subvocalization isn't completely gone yet, but doesn't slow me down for some reason. It feels like supportive background chatter. For this improvement alone, this book has been a wonderful gift, even if some of the chapters in the book felt like filler to me. A few chapters were definitely useful: Knowing your purpose for reading, previewing and sampling the material, recalling and summarizing what you've just read etc. These habits can help to read faster, understand the material more deeply, and remember more. Also, I believe expanding your peripheral vision could well take you beyond a 2x or 3x speed increase with this method. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! The chapter on Space Reading alone makes this book worth more than 5 stars, and takes less than 10 minutes to read. UPDATE: I've tried the technique on more literary material (novel) and it is not as easy to keep the pace for descriptions and more flowery writing. But for dialogues and more predictable, conversational material, it still works great.
