Great addition to the series
This review is based on my second read on July 12, 2020Setting: Ontario, Canada ContemporaryGenre: Paranormal romanceArmand Aregeneau has been living as a semi-recluse for 100 years, ever since his third wife, Rosamund, died in a freak wagon accident that beheaded her. His second wife, Althea, had died in a hotel fire a couple hundred years before that, and his first wife, Susanna, who was his life mate, burnt up in a stable fire in 1400-something. By the time Rosamund died when his daughter, Jeanne Louise, was a few months old, he had grown suspicious. He knew something was happening to the women he loved, so he left his daughter with his sister-in-law, Marguerite, and wouldn’t even see her for fear something wold happen to her once she reached adulthood. The only family he sees are his sons Nicholas (until he went rogue) and Thomas, and his older brother Lucian. Now Lucian, who is the head of the North American Council of Immortals, has asked Armand, who lives on a farm, if he can use it as a safe house for one of his Enforcers (AKA rouge hunters), because a particularly nasty rogue and his remaining sons (Eshe killed a few of them) are after her especially.Actually, Eshe d’Aureus has been assigned to investigate the deaths of Armand’s wives (which may be connected to the death of his son Nicholas’s wife, and Nicholas being framed for the murder of a mortal [see: Renegade Hunter]). Either he has some very bad luck, or he is a rogue who needs to be brought in for the Council to mete out justice. But Lucian, separately, tells them to read the other. They can’t. Are they possible life mates, or is it a fluke? They’ll have to see if the other symptoms develop...So the book is about that, and Eshe’s (and Bricker, whom Lucian sent to watch her back) Investigation into the mystery of the murdered (?) or accident-prone wives.Overall, the plot is good and kept my interest. I can’t remember if I was surprised by the whodunnit feature the first time I read it, but this time I did have it figured out (or remembered it). I had not remembered the resolution of the mystery though, and it was tragic and just. The characters are well developed, even the secondary ones, like Bricker, Anders, and Lucian. Aside from a couple of minor editorial glitches, the prose is, as usual, pleasing. While not as amusing as other books in the series, it is nevertheless a good addition.I originally got this book on audio. Luckily I was able to return it because it was such a huge mistake! I didn’t even make it through the first chapter. Actually, the first sentence made me cringe. Kirby Heyborne gave Lucian a voice that sounded like a constipated Kermit the Frog. Eshe and Armand didn’t sound much different from one another. According to one reviewer on Audible. com, he gave Leigh, Lucian’s life mate, a British accent, but she is from Iowa. Here’s the deal, the book takes place in Ontario, but except for Leigh (who is about 30) and Bricker (who is only around 100), the youngest characters are the Maunsel’s, Armand’s brother- and sister-in-law by his late life mate/first wife Susanna, which makes them 500+. None of these older immortals are actually from North America. Eshe lived mostly in Africa for the first half of her long life, Armand and Lucian (before moving to Canada) lived in France and England. Anders is African but adopted by a Russian (though you don’t get his full backstory until his book, some of it is revealed in Nicholas’ book, just prior to this one). I don’t know why the narrators (there have been 19 over 31 novels and 2 novellas) don’t give accents that are not North American to the characters who originated elsewhere. I don’t know why HarperAudio doesn’t hire good narrators. <sigh> Well, not all have been terrible, but still...My recommendation is that this is definitely a good read. But get it in text - either electronic or hard copy - and just take the time for a sit down read. I usually prefer audiobooks because they allow me to listen while I do other things, but a bad narrator isn’t worth it.

Answers Finally!
In this book you finally get the answers to the questions in Renegade Hunter as this book takes you to see Armand, Nicholas' father.Eshe is an enforcer for the Council & has been sent to seek the truth about whether or not Armand had anything to do with the death of his wives & with the death of Nicholas' 1st wife Annie.Lucian is taking a page out of Marguerite's matchmaking book or else she suggested it to Lucian to get Armand & Eshe together to see if they are each other's lifemate & of course they are. So, then Lucian sends Bricker to have their backs as they would most likely have a hard time keeping their hands off each other. There were many attempts of ending lives in the book by fire & not just Eshe's life; but also Armand, Bricker & Anders. There were some sex scenes but not a lot as there were in previous books mostly I think because they were trying to discover who was behind the killings. As I had read this book before but not for a very long time, I sort of remembered that Agnes had something to do with the killings but wasn't entirely sure. This book also had some humor in it that made me laugh (I have very dry humor so it might have been something that I found humorous but others might not) & it also had a reunion between Armand & his daughter Jeanne-Louise which was touching. This book was very good overall & answered many questions that were brought up in the previous book. I really like Eshe & her way of thinking. It will be interesting to see what the next book brings & if I will remember anything from it.

Loved it
Born to Bite is the thirteenth book in the Argeneau series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. I just really enjoyed this story and I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.

Born to Bite by Lynsay Sands
Title: Born to BiteAuthor: Lynsay SandsGenre: Contemporary Paranormal Romance; MysteryRating: 4 starsSummery: Armand Argeneau may have killed his three wives and daughter-in-law. All of them had died in accidents that seem a little too similar to each other.Eshe d'Aureus is sent in to investigate the possibility they weren’t accidents and to find out if Nicholas, Armand’s son, had been framed 50 years ago for the murder of a mortal woman. Finding out Armand is her life mate, complicates thing a little.I love that they’re both very old immortals and that they both have had a life mate before. It’s a different dynamic than the normal immortal meets his mortal life mate and has to woo her before he can tell her the secret thing. That has been fun but it’s nice to have a different take. I loved Eshe and I can’t wait to meet her kids and possible grandkids. This one continues where The Renegade Hunter left of. It’s a different couple and could probably be read without reading the other but I’d still recommend reading The Renegade Hunter first.Argeneau and Rogue Hunter series1) A Quick Bite2) Love Bites3) Single White Vampire4) Tall, Dark & Hungry5) A Bite to Remember6) Bite Me If You Can7) The Accidental Vampire8) Vampires Are Forever9) Vampire, Interrupted10) The Rogue Hunter11) The Immortal Hunter12) The Renegade Hunter12.5) Bitten By Cupid [anthology]13) Born to Bite14) Hungry For You15) The Reluctant Vampire15.5) The Bite Before Christmas [anthology]16) Under a Vampire Moon17) Lady Is A Vamp18) Immortal Ever After19) One Lucky Vampire20) Vampire Most Wanted21) The Immortal Who Loved Me22) About a Vampire23) Runaway Vampire24) Immortal Nights25) Immortal Unchained

Great read!
The latest in the Argeneau series completes the plot from the previous book (renegade hunter) in which rogue Nicholas was declared innocent of his crime. How the truth was discovered however was not explained. Born to bite follows rogue hunter Eshe trying to prove Nicholas's innocence and meeting her life mate Armand in the process.Armand Argeneau has had little contact with his family after the deaths of his 3 wives - all apparently rather unlucky immortals when it came to keeping their heads attached to their bodies. Some believe it is possible he killed his wives and if Eshe hopes to have a future with Armand then she must clear his name meanwhile trying to prevent the execution of his son Nicholas (who's own wife also had an untimely end). This book was really enjoyable. The relationship between Eshe and Armand was different with them both being old immortals with children of their own - both pretty much accept that they are lifemates and this isn't the focus of this book. Instead the plot surrounds the mysterious deaths of all these wives and the increasingly dangerous accidents that begin to occur - all the twists and strange accidents and little clues made this book really addictive for a fan of a good mystery! All in all the truth surrounding Nicholas and Armand is finally revealed and the ending quite satisfying if a little odd...A book well worth reading but not the best book to start reading the series because it is so closely connected with the previous few novels.

solves the mystery of " renegade hunter"
looked forward to this as had enjoyed the previous book and wanted to solve the mystery of "who did it", however the answer was a little to easy to find before too long and so the story lacked the interest for me after that, a bit disappointing after the previous book

love it
The book arrived as it was described and delivered when estimated which is always good. The book is a fab read especially if you have read all the books before this book. I would recommend telling people about this book and coming to amazon to buy this book and others because you get a great online service which is safe and reliable!
