Saved my butt on a failing MacBook Air
Thankfully this device allowed me to recover files from my MacBook Air which was failing due to some non-SSD hardware issue. Once I’d pulled the drive from my MacBook Air, I was able to fit the ssd into this device and plug it into my disk cloner/external dock. From there it connected to my other Mac just like any other external drive and I was able to copy all my files off - which worked better than I’d anticipated. Overall happy with this, no issues and it did exactly what it says it would.

Check you SSD before purchasing!
I ended up returning this so I didn't use it. I'm giving it 5 stars because when it arrived it definitely appearedf to be a quality product, and the return is no hassle. The issue is that I definitely have a Mac A1370 (mid-2011) which is supposed to contain a 12+6 pin SSD. But when I got this device, my SSD did not fit into it. It turns out that my Mac A1370 has an SSD with Samsung part number MZ-EPC2560/0A2, which is a 17+7 pin SSD ( and typically matches with Macs manufactured in 2012).

It does its job, but... too bad it won't fit on laptop 2.5 slot.
I would guess this is only for externals or for desktop.

Pro Tip; use SATA to USB cable (they're $5-10 on here) to plug the old 2011 drive into any device that has USB and can read APFS filesystem (Linux, Mac, probably Windows with 3rd party app).

Works perfectly but be aware it's quite long
This board arrived intact and worked perfectly. The board is necessarily quite long and so may not fit some USB chassis or 2.5" bays. Based on this product I would purchase ChenYang products again.

Ha funzionato come da aspettative
L'ho usata per recuperare i dati dall'hard disk di un MacBook Air mid 2011 di cui la RAM non passa più il controllo integrità (3 Beeps all'avvio). Ho inserito l'hard disk in questo adattatore, e ho letto i dati da un altro computer. Molto soddisfatto!
