General Replacement KHS-400C Laser Lens Module for Sony PlayStation 2 PS2

Works fine

This part is very easy to replace. Just watch what you are doing and go slow. You are going to need very small screwdriver tips for this project. The screws vary in size but the disk drive has VERY small screws. I used an eyeglass repair kit's screwdrivers.There is a clamp on the bottom for the connecting ribbon. Make sure you open it and slide the ribbon in all the way (gently) and then clamp it down.Also while you have the sliding rails off you may as well clean them. I used a silicon spray and wiped it off to clean the rail and then applied it again to let the lens module slide more freely. Also clean out the gear track on the right side. It gets all gunked up.Overall easy replacement and my friends old PS2 fatboy runs just like it did out of the box. The tracking is much quieter too now that everything is clean. Be careful not to touch that lens on top. Oh and this also reads both old and new games. Even ones it couldn't previously read,

The item simply did not work. Upon installation, the laser did not light at all. So I re-install the old one which was the original one, and it did light up. So I exchange the original for the replacement and it did not work. Did this three times to be sure, same results. Conclusion, either the replacement laser was not compatible with my model or it was dead from the start. My original issue was to replace the lens since it would only read white disc and not the blue or black ones.

Mine showed up broken. From the look of it, it seems MOST of these things show up and do not work. Buying one of these things is a gamble, if you decide to go ahead and buy one anyway, good luck.

no problems what so ever. installed just fine and worked just like a brand new ps2 after i put it in.

it sucked and it did not work and the laser did not even flash at all and ive been fixing ps2 for years its sometimes better to just buy another console

recommend excellent job all my ps2 is working as when out of the box

This didn't work for the old Fat model ScPH-39001 . Instructions were followed and it didn't read any of the discs.
