Beautiful, vibrant, great value
Simply gorgeous & a great price. These are highly pigmented, and a little goes a long way. I activated the palette with water, and then took a tiny amount and added it to my well palette with some water. I used a 3/4" flat brush with one sweep down a full 11" page. As you can see it gradients beautifully. I also just played around a little by dropping some alcohol drops on it, and a few other things. I primarily got this set specifically for shadow/shading - but I think I will be using it for a lot more. The actual pans are quite large, and it does come in a reinforced cardboard box. The pans can easily be removed and the color is listed on the bottom of each pan. I have no hesitation in recommending this set. The photographs do not do it justice.

Great Paints
Pigmented, vibrant, smooth, easy to blend, & great for concept art. Especially love the yellow-black. Also, the size is much larger than I'd anticipated. Pleasantly surprised. I will be using these regularly, and am excited to try other colors in the future.

Beautiful pigmented watercolors!
These are amazingly pigmented and bright, and so easy to work with. The colors are beautiful and have a rich thickness, and they move on the page like butter. They make a gorgeous palette. This is a high value, flexible palette. Great size. You get a lot of product in the pans, and it's so pigmented you don't have to use a ton to get good results. The paint dries fairly quickly, although heat still helps. The paint is also easy to clean from a brush. You basically just need to swish it in water. Swatches and testing done on a Canson Mixed Media Artist Grade 130lb sketchbook.

great dark earthy colors
Extraordinary watercolors with vibrant pigmented paint. Excellent for darker, earthy tones. My only complaint is that I attempted to transfer some paint into a more portable pallet, but it's hard to distinguish which color is which because they are very dark. Other than that, the intensity of its color can be adjusted by diluting with more water

I have married these paints.
I've never believed in the institution of marriage. But now these paints and I are married, and I've never been happier. I come home and there they are, waiting for me, dark and broody, a perfect match for my shriveled goth heart. Someday we'll have dark and broody children. Yes, you might find reviews from me in the future on, say, the Derwent graphite paint set. Don't get heated, the marriage is open. I know for a fact these particular Boku-Undo E-Sumi Watercolors have continued a relationship with the Aurora set, since, you know, they share a drawer in my studio and besides, for some individuals, and six pan sets, one person can never meet all of their needs. I have a relationship with the Aurora too. Sometimes I like to watch both of them together-- they look really interesting, the contrast is pleasing, and they just do it for me. I'm in the fortunate position of being the hinge of the relationship. This doesn't apply to everyone, of course, but a lot of us also like to dabble a bit on the side. I like to play with pretty much all of the Kuretake line, and so far my new partner has been more than game. We both agreed, why settle when we can have it all? The key is both of you have to be cool with it and have open communication about it. Don't let the challenges stop you from trying if you're both on the same page and have the same vision! I'm so happy with this decision I'm almost smiling. I almost wore purple today instead of black. The skies are grey and cloudy, it's windy and dreary out, these paints capture this effect brilliantly, and we can sulk in the same space, content in the knowledge our relationship is forever. Water soluable, but forever.

Fun colors
I was impressed with this paint. The colors are unique and I like the shading effect. Make a swatch so you can see how the colors will perform with your paper and brushes. Great value, easy to use. Nice transparency. I can't wait to use them on a project

Beautiful pigmented paints.
I really enjoy painting with these paints. I'm just learning how to watercolor and find these paints really easy to work with. They have rich dark colors, they have nice pigment, and don't take a lot of water to get a nice saturation level. I am really pleased with this set. They are easy to work with and easy to clean up.

highly pigmented, easily rewetted, flimsy box
I recently decided to learn watercolors, so I bought this palette on a whim. Usually I have to let some water sit in the well for a while or mix it with my brush to get the pigments to rewet, but this palette was JUICY. A single dab gave me almost too much pigment, turning the color black unless I cleaned off my brush and used clean water to dilute and drag out the color. The colors once diluted are gorgeous. After attempting to build up color slowly by layering, I found that the layer underneath was very easily rewetted and would pick up and blend, even when using a single stroke on a completely dried area. It was packaged quite nicely, however, once all the plastic is gone, I found the box it came in quite flimsy. The lid specifically is too loose. I've tried to pick up the palette with the lid on multiple times and ended up dropping the bottom of the box and all the pans inside. I didn't dock any stars for this though because they can be easily moved to a different container or palette. Overall, I loved the colors in this palette and would recommend for dark moody pieces. I'm assuming because of the sumi properties, I was able to brighten up the base color while still keeping the rich black when opaque without muddying the color.

Colori davvero magnifici, dalla grande resa e facilmente stendibili. Tinte ricercate e affatto banali. Da provare assolutamente per chi ama il genere.

Excellent quality paint , great value for money. Ready to use sumi ink - just add water. Great for calligraphy, Japanese brush painting and also suitable for watercolour technique. I really enjoy these muted tones. I would love to get more.
