I just got this in today, so if I have any issues I will update this review.My laptop recently took a fateful tumble of a grand six inches onto a hardwood floor, shattering its screen. At the time, I had one of the plain hard plastic cases on it. I decided that I, for sure, wanted something more protective, but while researching cases I found that the rugged cases are prone to breaking screens all on their own. What I do not want is another $500 repair bill.Then I saw leather folio cases! Ahh! Perfection!No hard plastic clips to damage the edges or stress the screen! Just nice, smooth microfiber touching the sweet, sweet aluminum of my precious $3k machine.Then came the issue of the design, I like black and gold. Occasionally green. Pink is *a'ight*, depending. So the color and design choices in most of the folios were just not what I was looking for. The blacks were boring, the pinks were all the same, the prints were common prints. Not very exciting. Then I saw... THE BOOKS.Hello, yes. I love this design, thank you.Yeah, it's a bit done at this point, and I'd rather have one that looks like the Hitchhiker's Guide, but this will do.I can emboss my own gold onto the cover, anyway. Out of the options present, this is the best for me. I work in publishing, and this is my work machine, so it's also a bit cheeky. I do like being cheeky.I started my journey into the depths of leather laptop folios that look like book covers.I was frustrated to find that most of the cases held the laptops in with elastic straps. Now, you all have had enough experience with elastic to know why that's not the best idea. The clear rubber kind tears and the fabric kind inevitably turns to dust. Having it go over the corners of my screen also made me fear for an eventual OCD meltdown. But that's my own hangup. I was also a bit concerned for the rubber that lines the screen getting rubbed by elastic constantly.I also knew that I wanted the entire wrist support section of the laptop to be covered. I'm sick of losing my stickers when I need a new battery or keyboard on this thing, and I have a form of inflammatory arthritis, as well as fibromyalgia, that makes any lump or seam quickly become a torturous annoyance.This bad boy solves both of those issues.With its $40 price tag and single textless review, this was a gamble. It's easily twice as much as the others and I can verify absolutely nothing about it. "Eh, screw it." I thought, "I can return it if it's not good and get the boring pink one. Pink will look funny on my dark gray laptop, but the plain black is just SO PLAIN."So I took the dive.Two days later, today, I receive it in the mail.It's lovely. It comes very well packaged with foam inserts, a soft bag like a reusable shopping bag to keep it from being scratched, and a plastic bag over it to keep it from getting wet. All rather tight over it like a snug little swaddled baby. This sucker could nearly survive a nuclear war in this packaging.Do not get confused, this case is *not* real leather. It is absolutely PU. A real leather case with this craftsmanship would be very difficult to make and would cost a small fortune. You'd have to get someone who still binds books in leather, or makes leather armor, to make it. Forming leather over something this small is just kind of a pain. You have to have the right kind of leather, all of the tools, then a form to press it over... It's a whole thing.That being said, the quality is there for the price. The seams are neat and the stitches are even. It looks and feels very nice.I does have the cute little bumps down the spine as you'd expect from an old book.The pen holder is a nice addition and it's out of the way when you use the laptop.Tl;Dr,Overall, I am very pleased with this case. I'm glad I took the plunge on something with no text reviews, as it turned out to be exactly what I wanted.It fits my 2018 model 13" MacBook Pro with a touch bar perfectly, as it stated. I have model A1989 for reference.The quality is there for the $40 price tag, it feels lush and sturdy.It looks exactly like the pictures and comes packaged to the nines.Most importantly, it will protect, and not damage, a ridiculously expensive laptop.Update May 11th 2021:I got this in January of 2020.It's still great! The PU has just now started to rub off a bit on the lower left edge and bottom.My laptop had fallen off my bed, been shoved in a backpack for flights, carried all over my house during zoom calls, the works. It's been perfectly protected the entire time!I've only had my laptop get so hot that I need to remove it from the case twice, and I regularly use both illustrator and photoshop at the same time.Overall, I'm still very, very happy with this case. I get compliments on it constantly, the computer is protected. I can't complain at all!Update Oct 13th 2023:I replaced the first one I had ordered in July 2021 with another as the PU was peeling(see previous update.)this one has lasted much better with just a little bit of fabric glue under the wrist guards. I am so happy with this product that I will continue to buy them until they stop making them, and I dread the day they do.I now have a rambunctious standard poodle that has chewed on this case, stepped on it, and knocked it off more surfaces than I can count. There has been absolutely no damage to my laptops! None. I even got a new laptop and put it right back into this case. Two cases and three years later, and I cannot recommend it more. The PU does lift, but can be glued back down easily and successfully looks brand new after. The elastic in the pen holder also has a limited life span, but it hasn't really bothered me. I just stopped using it once my pen got annoyingly droopy. I will probably be purchasing a new one soon, as two years of very heavy wear and tear does take its toll. But for the money, I'll take two years of my laptop being so perfectly protected.

I purchased the original Book Book fiddy’leven years ago when they first came out and when I upgraded my Mac this last time, I was sorely disappointed in the quality and functionality of their new design. And then I found this item. It is beautiful, smooth, unique, and super durable. I have unfortunately dropped my Mac book off the bed (more than once) and this cover completely protected my device. The fittings (I’m not sure if that’s the right word?) are exceptionally user-friendly; from the bands across the top corners to the full sized holder across the bottom section. My Mac book is not going to fall out or encounter damage in this case. I haven’t used the zipper much but I haven’t had any issues zipping or unzipping all the way around the few times I’ve done so. This case would be worth the purchase at twice the price but luckily, the price point currently offered means extra for more cases. Definitely recommend.

The case fits nicely and the quality is good.

My mom thought this was real leather, we thought it was beautiful and very cool way to disguise a laptop. The strap to hold it closed is sturdy. Covers and encloses my laptop great. It’s easy to put on and take off my MacBook and it doesn’t seem to overheat even without it not having real vents on the bottom but it does have openings I’m assuming that are used as vents on the corners. It’s decently thick, sturdy, and protective. The mouse pad is perfectly cut out and don’t have issues with it coming in on the pad and disrupting any functionality.

The material and production quality are great, especially for a low price product. I was expecting some kind of flaw knowing this was cheaper than other similar book-styled leather cases, but now I suspect the others are just marked up in price.This version features open sides rather than closing up via zipper like some other versions. I prefer the open sides because it allows me to keep the USB hub attached. I use the UGREEN double port hub because it lines up perfectly with the Macbook when it attaches, rather than hanging off a flimsy cable like most USB dongles.The fit is snug and secure overall. It's generously spaced on the top side, and I'm able to keep the top half of my original case attached for a bit of extra protection. The bottom half protects the area around the trackpad, and fits almost perfectly with the UGREEN double port hub.

I purchased one of these for my MacBook Air, and I love it, but it has the same problem this one does: while this one is even sturdier and better made, all it has to hold the lid of the laptop in is a flimsy elastic bands at each corner. That's it. I have to keep my eye on it every minute, as it could VERY easily slide out and send my precious laptops to the floor, open. This surprises me, as I have these cases for my iPhones and my iPads, and with those, the devices are held very securely, although the phones don't have a zipper, like all the other cases do.I've learned that there is really no such thing as a perfect case to hold my expensive devices, so these are at least attractive and sturdy.

Perfect for my laptop and love the design

Exactly what I was looking for - I purchased something similar that lasted for about 4 years at a much higher price. This case fits my MacBook pro better and has sturdier insertion areas than using elastic that stretches out of shape leaving the laptop unstable. This fits my MacBook Pro perfectly and is very attractive laying around wherever it happens to be dropped off in my home :-). I haven't had it long enough to report on how it will hold up over time and will update the review if there is anything here to report.

This cover is brilliant, it completely disguises the fact that is a laptop. Friends ask what the book is? They are amazed when it is opened to reveal a laptop and is greatly admired by all. It is a perfect fit too and excellent value for money. It is also sturdy and wipes clean.
