Great Antenna - designed for GMRS, can work for HAM bands but SWR was high (5+:1)
So I got this antenna out of the box and was immediately impressed with its build quality. It looks good, and it handled highway speeds with no issue. In town signal reception was good, and I had no issues hitting the repeater with a strong signal putting out 25 watts. However, when I borrowed my buddies RigExpert to check the SWR on the VHF band, my SWR was 5:1 or higher across. The RigExpert only went to 230mhz, I couldn't check the UHF band to see what it was doing up there, but it was resonant at 81.7mhz and below 2:1 SWR above 219. I know that there are factors inside my control that I could change to see if I could get a better match, but decided to check the Midland website to see the antennas specs. Here was the description I read this morning: "Expand GMRS two-way radio range by quadrupling signal output in wide-open spaces with limited obstructions and a flexible design fit for the elements" So the antenna is tuned and intended for use on GMRS frequencies between 462-467mhz as stated by the manufacturer. So if you are operating GMRS mobile, then by all means, I can recommend the antenna for build and quality. If you are operating on the amateur bands (2m<144-148mhz> and 70cm <420-450mhz>) I would consider something else.

Buy this product! Couldnt have asked for better
The build quality of this antenna is outstanding. Boosted my radios performance by a lot and allowed me to reach out further than before and have transmissions come in much cleaner. Nice and flexible so if it does manage to hit a tree limb on the trail, or the drive through height limit thing, it just bends out of the way and returns right back to where it started. Great bang for the buck as well as its cheap and very effective for the amount of amazing quality you get from this antenna. The range it picks up is also mind blowing as it grabs the receiving transmission and handles it with ease from very reasonable far distances, especially considering my other radios dont pick up the same transmissions from further away with other antennas as good as this one does

Gives many fars over some of the other options out there
Genuinely very pleased with the antenna. I'm running an AnyTone 778UV VOX edition and I am very pleased with the antenna. Tossed it on the analyzer and I'm pretty happy with the results on HAM and GMRS. Now you have to remember that an antenna like this is never going to be perfect it's pretty darn good. I had a previous antenna, a TRAM 140MHz-170MHz + 430MHz-470MHz Dual Band and it's alright. However, when I switched to the Midand I noticed a pretty good difference. I have a pretty nice increase in range. The build quality is very good. I like that it has a spring at the base of the whip so you can tag a few trees and it's not going to bend the antenna. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the purchase and I will be upgrading my wife"s antenna to this as well. It came packaged in a rather large box for the size of the antenna but that is my gripe with Amazon, not the seller

Great Mobile Antenna.
I had a Nagoya UT-72G antenna originally and switch up to this one. The MXTA26 is superior in both reception and transmission. It doesn't come with a NMO base so you can choose how to mount the antenna. I wanted a magnetic base for my truck and the ones I looked at on Amazon all had UG58 coax which is more lossy than I wanted. I ended up with the Melowave NMO Magnet Antenna Mount which uses low loss CFD200 coax. The SWR for this antenna setup will vary on where you place it on your vehicle, I got mine to about 1.2 which is very good. The antenna performs very well for GMRS.
