Ouija, It Glows in the Dark (1998)

Of course there are fanatics calling this toy evil because B movies give it a bad name but the fact is this IS a toy. This is a toy. It's a fun toy. It's a rectangular piece of card board with the alphabet drawn on it and then painted with glow in the dark paint. The planchet (the triangle thing) is plastic. It wasn't 'carved by Satan.' It's not Evil. It's a toy. Think about it. What self respecting demon is going to show up using a glow in the dark piece of plastic? If that's your idea of evil clearly you don't know about the cruelty and violence in the world today that you have to rant about a TOY! Get a grip! Little girls use these at slumber parties and I've yet to see anyone sucked into Hell for asking the piece of cardboard 'Does Timmy like me?' Some of these negative reviews calling this evil and Satanic are out right silly.

I have done some research on Ouija boards trying answer the question is it just a game or is it something more? The more could be something good or evil. Some believe it's a conduit to HELL that lets demons in who want to eat your juicy soul and tell you lots of lies (since their dad is the father of you know what). Some believe it will contact a benevolent being aka goodie-two-shoe spirit high on life who wants nothing better to help and tell you swell things. Sometimes I think its all BS and sometimes it think it us connecting into the collective unconscious. Or something else all together? Do-do-do-do. Ouija goes way back (like 1000's of years) and its more commonly referred to as "talking boards" since their supposedly "talk" to the spirit world. They come in all shapes and sizes. One modern example is at a party I have used a beer bottle cap and notebook piece of paper with the alphabet scribbled on it. It "worked" just as good as the glow-in-dark game. Another tidbit is the word Ouija was a fusion of the French word "oui" for yes, and the German "ja" for yes.*. Cool huh? (...) After a few hours or drinking in graveyard we got bored. Just in case you were wondering we did respect the property and flowers of the graves we are not hoodlums here. Now on the other hand I can care less about the dead because well umm they are dead. This was a scientific event that resulted in only one notable event over several hours and users (people). I asked our lovely glow in the dark Ouija board what was yesterday's 3 Indiana pick 3 lottery number were. I ask that because this is something my trusted friend and I had no clue on since we don't gamble and it's something verifiable. It more or less answered "747" and the next day I looked up the real answer and it was 774. So while still wrong it, it was interesting. In conclusions I think it's a game. If Ouija really does tap into something its not an unknowable magical ghosts or sprits flying about. I think it's our unconscious mind and perhaps just perhaps it's everyone's unconscious mind connected together in some yet unknown way. If that is the case then its needs to explored and researched don't let fear of the unknown get in the way. It is not the dark ages any more. There are no more witch burnings. Religious dogma often has kept people in the fear of devils and persecutions. Did you know just in 1992, 359 years after the Galileo trial and 340 years after his death the catholic issued an apology, lifting the edict of Inquisition against Galileo? Perhaps the next big scientific break through could be a result of playing with the Ouija board?

Quija boards have always fascinated me... grew up not having one, but made my own. Now - as an adult decided to get it for myself as a birthday gift! Love it! haven't gotten it to do any weird and crazy stuff, YET, but I am not giving up on it! it has a great look to it and I love that it glows in dark! lots of bad talk has been about Quija boards and their use! I believe it's nothing to be afraid of, BUT - it is important to have the right intentions when using it! Right intentions meaning - ask to be protected from any harm when using it, ask only positive spirits come through, set an intention (ask God or anything higher you believe in, or just say it out in Universe) that you want to feel and be safe when using this board etc.! Best demon conjuring board money can buy. Normally, I do not like to partake in rituals of summoning the dark lord but this changed when my neighbor moved in. I have a been blessed with a having beautiful lawn. I think it's the green jewel of the neighborhood. However my neighbor has been allowing his dog desicrate my lawn with it's foul feces scattered on my once prestine lawn. He refused to clean up after his vile mongrel. It was at this moment I turned to my wife and said, " oh it's about to go down". I promptly or the board and it arrived on time. I have dabbled in the wizard arts and a oiji board is just what I needed to aid in my endeavors. It took a little bit of trial ( I accidentally conjured up a troll that was too color and musical to scare anyone ) I finally conjured up Phil the Demon. Don't let the name fool you this demon is annoying to no end. Picture male Karen....or Daren then picture this Daren constantly berating you and making up rules/laws to haunt you 24/7. I give this product 5 wizard hats.

ouija board is a wonderfull way to contact spirits. it might not work the first time your using it.. but be patient... there will be an answer soon... please dont play it alone...( to dangerous...) and its always better to burn some protection incense.. cast a circle or even wear a pentalce for protection....if you got the feeling the beeing isnt nice... then send him away by simply saying: thanks you for beeing our guest. now im sending you back to your world........ then wait a little put the board away and start again..... while playing try not to cross your legs because it might block the flow of energy.. its also always good to have a white candle lit. keep unwanted noises away such as tv. doorbell ect. play this game with respect of the otherworld.... always ask for the name first....( for the name in his her last incarnation on earth.. if you dont ask specific it might show you a name wich doesnt make sense in our world......)....sometimes there will be also personal messages...its always good to have someone to write it down.. you might not understand the first time you hear it .. but it might makes sense in the future....... to the end always make shure you send the beeing away with saying thank you for your help.. thanks for beeing here. now you have to go back where you belong.... in light and love.... from white raven.. may the spirits be with you........

I bought this for my 6 and 8 year old. We played it together and I asked the first question. "Are there any ghosts in this house?" Then I made it answer, "yes in Janae and Charlie's bedroom." It scared them, it was hilarious

My friend loves Ouija boards, and I decided to get her very first one for her birthday. Quality: I read the other reviews and I was expecting it to be low-quality. However, expectations and actually seeing it are two different things. Once I took the board out of the shipping box, I was surprised. It looks exactly like any other board game; two cardboard pieces that form a box to hold the board and accessories. I was even more astonished that the Ouija board was also like other board games' boards; it was made of cardboard and had that glossy, laminated feel on the face. The planchette was hard plastic and felt the cheapest of them all. Since it was hard plastic, it was difficult to easily slide around the board. Aesthetics: I don't know how other people got the glow of the board to last as long as 30 minutes because ours lasted 5 minutes at the most. We put the board under a lamp's light for an hour, then turned off the light and it glowed very brightly, but only for a few minutes. The hour of lamp-light made the planchette glow longer than the board, but it only glowed for 10 minutes. "Does it work?": Other reviewers shouldn't have given it a bad review just because it "didn't work for them". The board itself isn't guaranteed to work, it's just a tool to help you communicate. We tried it once at my house at about 8 pm, but there was no activity on the board. This didn't surprise me because I didn't find my house to be haunted. However, since we used the Ouija board at my house, I have been hearing footsteps in the hallway outside my bedroom and in my bedroom, as well as on the main level of the house. I hear activity in the kitchen and my parents' voices when I'm home alone. Nothing bad has happened, it's just a little freaky. I do avoid my basement because I have a very negative feeling when I'm down there and like something is watching me. We've used a makeshift Ouija board (just notebook paper with writing on it) at my friend's house, and we had activity all night. Everyone in that household knows there's a person there whom they nicknamed Shadowman because they could only see a shadow of a man. However, after using the makeshift Ouija board, we found out that his real name is Allen. When we used the Ouija board that I bought, we didn't get any activity at all, and it was 10 pm. Now, I'm not going to say the Ouija board doesn't work because there are entities at my house now. I say if you're looking for a Ouija board and want to spend $19.99 or less on one, then buy this. It's definitely not like a classic Ouija board (except for the writing on the face) but it's better than using notebook paper.

Bought this for my 11 year old daughter at Christmas. We have fun asking dumb questions and understand that it has nothing to do with god or spirits... it's a BOARD GAME! If you're NOT ok with it, DON'T purchase the product. If you're open minded and can have fun with it, then this might be for you. Good quality board and the viewing glass has rubber feet, unlike the felt feet that older boards have. You can't really play in pitch black with the glow in the dark part because it wares out too quick and you can't see the board too well. Low light (candles or closet/hallway light) works well. My son's girlfriend gets really freaked out, and we like exacerbating her fears, but she's a good sport. Good times!
