You have one life. Live it. A heartfelt documentary film about extreme skier, Shane McConkey. The legacy one athlete left to the progression of his sports, and the path he paved to conquer his dreams. Brilliant Account of Thrillseeking at it's Best!
If you've got that thrillseeking blood burning inside of you, you'll greatly appreciate this documentary. Having spent 10 years as a member of the United States Parachute Association and making 796 jumps before it came time to hang up my jumpsuit, watching this film brought back countless memories that I'll always cherish. Yes, you spend enough time in this sport, you'll lose some friends along the way, but just as Shane's amazing thrillseeking passions exhibited, living life to it's fullest potential was a gift not only to the sport he so thoroughly treasured, but also to the countless others who will follow after his footsteps. In all my years jumping, I never encountered anyone who was a fearless as Shane McConkey. But it wasn't a careless fear. He approached every challenge with the utmost preparations and analysis. Unfortunately, just as the saying goes ... there are old skydivers and there are bold skydivers, you just won't find any old, bold skydivers and Shane left the community much too soon.

This film/documentary runs the gamut from joy and amazement to heartbreak and fun.
I first watched this film 5 years ago and it made such an impact on me that it has become the most influential documentary on me short of any documentary concerning WWII. It is remarkably amazing in regards to the story of Shane McConkey and his family and friends and nothing moves my soul in the manner it does aside from the heroism our soldiers exhibit daily. To be clear I find this film amazing in so many ways but nothing and no one will ever surpass the respect, admiration and homage I have for the soldiers who have protected America's freedom and people since this country was born.

Instant Favorite
I can't watch this film enough times. What an inspiring person! I don't even like skiing (its so elitist), but Shane managed to be both the hero and underdog at the same time and totally transcended the sport while reinventing it.I laugh and cry every time I watch this film. It's just one of the best documentaries ever made about one of the most interesting and magnificent people of all time.Watch this movie. Right now. Buy it if you like it.

Deserves 5 Stars.. Reason I gave 4 below:
The absolutely one and only reason this documentary didn't get 5 stars from me was because I saw another documentary about Shane on YouTube years ago and it was just.. better. I'm NOT saying that this documentary is bad in any way, so don't get me wrong. But the other one I saw (I wish I could find it and/or remember the name.. I'm 99% sure that YouTube removed it. Why, I have no idea. I feel like it had 'G.N.A.R.' in the title or subtitle. Not to be confused with the movie of the same name.)Aside from that, this documentary covers all the important events of note in McConkey's life; exploring the thrills, adrenaline, goofball behavior, emotional aspects and family life of Shane & Co. You will learn everything you need to know about this his tragic story and (hopefully) appreciate what exactly Shane McConkey brought into this world.. and the legacy he left behind. What a wild life he had.. and it ultimately makes you wonder what the world of extreme sports would be like if this innovative and fun soul was still with us today.RIP Shane McConkey.. thanks for being a shining ray of light in this sometimes dark and troubling world. "See Ya!!!!"

Read this or Die!
I rarely give 5 stars reserving them only for films that profoundly stand out. I'm a documentary zealot constantly searching for the hidden gem. Regardless if it's sports, history, music or warfare a good film is a good film. I actually passed on "McConkey" a few times having absolutely no idea it would be one of the rare films I watch over many times.

As good as SENNNA!
Truly one of the best documentary films I have ever seen... and for a number of years I was a documentary film editor. Not only is the subject - Shane McConkey - supremely charismatic, and a true fun-loving extreme renegade - but the film itself is so well put together, it is mesmerizing. The music choices as well are exceptional, and work fantastically well within the context of the documentary. Regardless of your interests, or occupation, seeing this film will affect you... it is very powerful. Extremely well done.

Great movie about a great human being that I can watch time and time again...
Shane McConkey was 1 of a kind and the world is a sadder place without him. The stunts he pulled off were epic and he is a true inspiration to the type of human being it takes to do these types of things.
