Tiny AAA light. Streamlight is king for simple, reliable EDC
Quick verdict: The MicroStream is a dependable pocket backup that just works. Perfect if you want a tough, single AAA light with a clean beam for everyday tasks. Context: Bought April 14, 2025 for $19.99. Lives in a backpack and sometimes a pocket. Clip rarely used. Running the included AAA alkaline. Tens of quick uses per month and it has not needed a battery swap yet. Wins: • Surprisingly bright, and the beam is clean with a usable hotspot, ideal for finding dropped screws or reading labels • Runtime feels strong for a single AAA, no sudden dimming on short tasks • Clip holds tight in a pocket and the light shrugs off drops onto hard floors Tradeoffs: • The clip is removable, but taking it off can scratch the paint at the contact points • Only one brightness level, which keeps it simple but limits flexibility Dealbreakers: If you need a true headlamp or multiple output levels, consider a 2 mode AAA or a small rechargeable with a moonlight setting. Tests and measurements: • Drop test from waist height to concrete, no functional issues, just tiny finish marks • Beam check on a white wall, round hotspot with soft spill, no ugly rings • Battery test in real use, short tasks over weeks on the included alkaline with no replacement yet Tips: If you plan to remove the clip, slide a thin layer of tape under the contact area to protect the finish. For hat brim use, keep the logo toward the bill to aim the hotspot downward. Alternatives considered: A USB rechargeable keychain light is brighter for bursts, yet needs charging and can get hot. A 2 AAA penlight gives longer runtime and a slimmer profile, but it is longer in the pocket. Durability check-ins: Month 1, finish looks good with small clip marks. Month 3, repeated pocket carry shows light scuffing only. Month 5, switch still crisp, no flicker, battery still fine for quick tasks. Bottom line: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Classic Streamlight reliability at a fair price. Not flashy, just a tough little light from a brand that has earned the crown for everyday carry. ↓ Please tap "Helpful" if this review was useful to you!

Compact, Bright, and Always Reliable
I've used a lot of small flashlights over the years, but the Streamlight MicroStream really impressed me. Despite its compact size, it puts out a surprisingly bright 45 lumens, which is more than enough for most tasks. Whether I’m out on a night hike, working under the hood, or just looking for something in the garage, this little light does the trick. The clip is sturdy and versatile—I’ve attached it to my pocket, hat brim, and even my tool bag. The push-button tail switch is responsive, and I appreciate the momentary or constant-on feature. The aluminum housing makes it tough enough to handle drops and rough use without any issues. Battery life is decent for its size, and I like that it runs on a single AAA battery. Simple, effective, and rugged—exactly what I want in a pocket flashlight. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable everyday carry light.

This little guy came to the rescue!
A month or so ago we had some really bad storms and while at work our power went out. Like in most office's we had two flash lights for this type of emergency. I grabbed it and tried to turn it on.....nothing. I checked the batteries and they expired 3 years ago.... I went and checked the other flash light and same story, expired 2 years ago. The best part of getting those flashlights was that we used my Streamlight to find them! Once we put new batteries in those old beasts (using 3 D batteries each) my little guy put out a better light than both. Later after we were sent home early due to now power, I decided to stop by the grocery store for some things. When I got there the power was out throughout the entire store minus the registers. So again, this little guy came in handy and I shopped for groceries in the dark. It totally felt like it was a end of days in there lol. This is my real life application of the Streamlight. Pros: -Small: Smaller than a pen, and fits in your 5th pocket on some guy jeans. -Bright: This has a good beam for the size. You wont light up the world, but for a pocket light trying to get around it serves that purpose well. -Clip: The clip is a double clip. On for a pocket, and the other fits the bill of a hat to mimic a headlamp. ( I use this in my carport since there is not light there. -Single button use: This does NOT have a distress option which I am grateful for. You push the back button on and off. SIMPLE -Sturdy: This guy has a solid feel to it. -Battery: THE HONEST SELLING POINT OF THIS GUY!!!!: it uses one single AAA battery. Not some weird battery size. Very common and easy to come by battery. If I needed to replace this battery in an emergency, SIMPLE! Con: -Finish: After about 2 months of daily carry (in an office setting) the finish has turned to more of a "stone washed" look. Not a bad look, but just showing wear faster than I thought. All in all this guy sits right with my keys, phone, knife and pen as my EDC set up.

Unreal!! More Impressive Than The Bulkier/Heavier/More Expensive Lights!
This thing has it all on Mag Lights and the like. It's so easy to use, provides great light, is lightweight, and can go with you anywhere. This is essentially the same review I left for Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black LED Pen Flashlight with Holster . They're the same pen, but this one is a little less than 1/2 the length of the other. I prefer the longer length pen light, as I have big hands. This one is great too though. A little harder to hold traditionally, but easier to hold in your mouth or place in a pocket for quick use. I've gotten used to carrying a small LED flashlight around with me. It's amazing how often a flashlight comes in handy (looking for something on the floor of a movie theater, on the floor of your car, checking the oil under the hood of your car, etc...). It's just a great tool to have. LED light is so bright and clear, it really helps you see more than traditional lights. It's such a step up from the old yellow flashlights of our past. I bought two small'ish high quality Leatherman flashlights at Costco for $25-$30 each. I also bought two not-so-high quality flashlights at Sam's Club for $28 (package of two). I'd either keep one in my car or take it with me when I go wherever I went. Therein lies the problem. Carrying a flashlight, especially a well-made one (i.e. heavier), is a pain. It's very difficult if you're just relying on your pockets & hands. It's easier if you carry a backpack or a man bag, but that's not always practical. Anyway, a flashlight was always just another thing I had to carry (iPod, Flip video, cell phone, wallet, keys) wherever I went. Living in the Midwest, we have very cold winters and very hot/humid summers. I'm not a fan of leaving electronics in freezing or sweltering vehicles, so I always have to truck everything around with me. Well, thanks to this pen light, I have one fewer thing to carry. Sure, it still has to go with me, but I hardly know it's there! Obviously it's the circumference of a pen, but it's 1/2 as long. It's very small. It's also very lightweight. This really helps if you have to hold the light in your mouth (checking the oil dipstick on your car, for example). The light is extremely bright, much more than I'd expect from a product this size. Just stick it in your pocket and go. It feels like it's very high quality, and will hold up with more than a few drops (not that I'd recommend dropping it, but it happens). Be careful with the holster. It comes very tight and will grip/hold onto anything. If you have it attached to a pocket or shirt collar (wherever), make sure that you slide it up/down instead of pulling out. Once the holster/clip gets bent out, it's hard to get it super tight again.

Outstanding task light--small, bright, compact, ultra-light!
This is a truly outstanding light, and at $16.00, it competes with other lights in the $30 - 60 range in terms of build quality, form factor, and beam quality. I'm very impressed. First, this is the UPDATED version of the original MicroStream, so if you've read older, pre-2011 reviews (many are still circulating online), you may be surprised to learn that this version has resolved several known issues with the older model. The beam is brighter (28 lumens instead of 20), battery run time is longer (2.5 hours instead of 1.75 hours), the tail switch is much stiffer (nearly impossible to turn on by accident in your pocket), and, though I have no way to confirm it, the anodized coating seems to be more scratch resistant. Second, this light is very small. It is barely larger in diameter than an AAA battery, and the length is about the same as the width of my medium-sized hand (i.e., if you clutch it in your fist, you should be able to palm the entire light). The two-way pocket clip is reasonably stiff and very functional. It can be clipped onto your pocket for a more secure ride or onto the brim of a hat (or backpack strap, etc.) to hold the light for hands-free illumination. I've also clipped it onto the edge of a stroller as a very effective headlight to illuminate the pathway when pushing a stroller at night. The weight is so light you will absolutely forget that you're carrying it. It's only negligibly heavier than the weight of the AAA battery itself. Basically, if you have room for a tube of chapstick in your pocket, you have room for this light. Third, the beam is very clean. It creates a nice, round, evenly illuminated circle of light with no hot spots or shadows anywhere in the center of the beam. The beam has a very effective reach (throw range) of about 15 feet. When you shine it at your feet, it casts a brightly lit circle about 18" in diameter. There is some spill at the edges of the beam, but not enough to illuminate the surrounding area, so it's closer to a spotlight than a floodlight (as any light of this size should be). It's ideal for illuminating a pathway at night, reading in the dark (though perhaps too bright for extended reading), locating a keyhole in a door, or momentarily blinding a potential attacker to gain an edge in a self defense situation. Fourth, the light is certainly weatherproof and, theoretically, waterproof. I haven't tested the latter claim, but there is an O-ring seal on the barrel threads where the light screws together so I suspect it would certainly survive a drop into a puddle or other casual contact with water. I wouldn't deliberately take it diving, of course, but it's not a dive light so it hardly matters. In short, I'm very impressed with this excellent, lightweight, perfect-for-casual-lighting-needs light. I'll probably buy several more and stow them in various places (kitchen cupboard, boat hatch, glovebox, office drawer, etc.) because they're so affordable and useful, yet take up almost no room.

Small but bright
It is much smaller than I thought it would be , it's about as big around as a AA battery and four inches long. It IS very bright though and lights up an area very well. Very expensive for such a small flashlight. I've only had it a few days so I have no reference as to how long it will last. It IS a perfect size to go in a pocket or purse without taking up much space. It's got a good strong clip for a shirt pocket or other easily accessed area .

Brand Name , Budget Light ; Does the little jobs
Brand name at a good price. Every brand name should have a budget line that still represents the brand. This item does that. If you just need to peek into the dark for a second this flashlight is for you. More Bulk = More Brightness 🔅 This light is not a saber through the night but gets the quick ID on Close Objects. The battery lasts forever and is intuitive with button blink or click on. Thank you for not making it a sensitive push switch. If the button is not flush or depressed with the body it MUST be Ridgid or your lighting up your position when you don't want to. Overall; Perfect for those not interested in a lithium battery with a finicky connector that is poorly covered. Give it a go 🤠

Perfect size for a pocket, one AAA battery lasts, bright enough, durable, you can't beat it.
This is my favorite light to carry every day. Battery is easy to replace in the field, bright enough, clips to my hip pocket and very durable. The battery lasts a long time, 1-2 months at least (educated guess) with brief daily use. I've considered the rechargeable version, but being able to quickly swap in a new battery is more useful to me. I've tried the 2x AAA version but this one is so compact and bright that you can't beat it. I've carried this model for years, and have checked out other carry options, but this just fits.

Compact but quality
Initially, I wasn't impressed with this flashlight. The lumens are low and the light was significantly smaller than anticipated. With carrying the flashlight for a few weeks now, I have changed my mind. The slim, and sleek design make carrying the flashlight a breeze, almost like it isn't even there. I also appreciate the fact that it runs off a AAA battery that can be easily replaced. I've added this to my EDC and its become an favorite. Although the lumens weren't what I was expecting, the light is bright enough for any of my needs. It doesn't have any different light settings but I don't different light settings are necessary for the periodic use it will get. The clip is nice and strong which retains it deep in my pocket all day long. The build is quality aluminum and has a strong button push at the end. No way this thing is coming on by accident. All in all, this light has grown on my and I'm impressed with the size and quality build.
