What are the assembled, exterior dimensions of this file box?

The box is 15.5 inches wide, 12.5 inches deep, and 9.5 inches tall. The lid measurements would be slightly larger to fit over the box. I did not keep the lid because it would not fit in my allotted space on the shelf. Hope this helps.

Ok, there are no folders; but does the box have the hanging separators that hold and support the folders???

This is a well made empty box. You will need to buy the hanging separators with the hooks on them. The hooks hang onto the sides of the box. Then you can put the manila folders into them. Hope this helps.

does this box fit standard size file folders

This box will fit standard size sliding file folders but NOT with label tabs. The label tabs will bend over when you close the lid. Do NOT buy the amazon recommended sliding file type if you do not wish the labels to bend when the lid is closed.

does it come with the files inside

This does not come with the files inside, you purchase the seperately. The hanging files then fit in and hook onto the sides of the box. The lid then sits on top of these hooked on file which then DOES NOT have a secure fit!
