InSinkErator Garbage Disposal Air Switch Kit, Dual Outlet Sink Top Switch Button for All InSinkErator Food Waste Disposer Models, Chrome/White STS-OO

This was very easy to install in an existing hole in a cast iron sink (replaced a soap container). I normally wait for my spouse to install, but took care of this on my own. You will need to have someone hold the top part in the hole while the bottom nut is tightened (my kid contributed to this). Works well, priced lower than one that I could've bought to "match" my new Delta faucet (chrome is chrome and I already own the garbage disposal of the same brand). Would recommend and buy it again.

Ever wonder which switch to use? Is this one for the light or is it that one? Which one is for the disposal? Is it on the left or the right? Guess wrong and you just might wake up the household. Staying over to babysit our grandchildren we feed, play, read, and rock them until they fall exhausted . . . (oops that's us not them) into dreamland. Now it's time to turn on a light over the sink but trying to figure out which switch is which becomes a problem, especially when you have just gotten the cherubs to sleep and desire some much needed quiet time for yourself. We're old, we get confused and because it's not our house we have suffered the consequences of making the wrong choice. To err is human but to air (switch) can be divine! Having chosen the wrong one once too many times prepared us for choosing this InSinkErator SinkTop switch for our home. It is awesome, no confusing this with a light switch. It works at the touch of a finger and works only when we want it to. Installation was easy and we can finally say we chose the right switch this time! ~ The Boss and Mrs. B ~

Update 3/4/24 The original is still going strong and we are very happy with the performance. We just installed a disposal into a rental property, and this seemed like a good feature to include. Disappointed that the price has gone up so much in 5 years, but that's another story. The plunger switch seems to be less well made - not as smooth of action and the "nickel" ring doesn't stay attached. Also, surprised it didn't come with mounting screws and anchors. Until I can get out to the hardware store, it's just sitting on the cabinet floor. Update 7/25/19 Had this a year now, and nothing has changed. Still works flawlessly, and keeps me out of an electrical circuit. Have yet to need the additional outlet! We’ve had it for a few weeks now, and it works great! I never liked flipping the electrical switch with wet hands. This is a nice, safe way to turn on the disposal. Installation was simple, as we already had a hole in our countertop. Appears to be well made. Not sure the value of the second outlet for me, but this was less expensive than the single outlet version.

Ordered this as a replacement for an existing air switch which failed. Works great, the counter-mounted plunger looks clean. Easy to install, especially if the counter is already drilled for the plunger. (As a replacement, you can probably reuse the existing plunger, which makes it even easier to install.) I'm a tinkerer, so I opened the old one to see what failed. Turns out it has an air-activated switch which is also used in many hot tubs, and that had failed. The switch is readily available for around $10 as a replacement part, and is easily replaced, the leads are simple push-on contacts.

This is a nifty little dual outlet switch box that can let you avoid adding another circuit for all the stuff piling up under the sink (in my case I have a grinder, HC-View instant hot water heater, and a water filter system). In the two outlet version, outlet #1 is normally powered while outlet #2 is off. When the switch gets pressed (for running the grinder for example) outlet #1 turns off while #2 is powered. When you turn the grinder off, outlet #1 turns back on again. This is great because if you also want to add an instant hot water unit, you never see the loads of both the grinder and instant hot water at the same time. This is key because the dishwasher is often on the same circuit as well! All three loads at the same time could pop your house circuit breaker and so your options (if the wiring is potentially marginal to begin with) are to add this switched outlet, put a second circuit to the sink, or put in beefier wiring. Putting this in also allowed me to put in a GFI outlet which should have been there anyway (but wasn't). This was a nice, clean, and easy install that solved what could have been a much more expensive problem for me. The product lit was not entirely clear that the outlet function was either/or and not both. I did call and confirm this before purchasing.

Installation is trivial: - pop out the plug in your spare counter hole and install the button - screw the main unit to the cabinet side under your sink. -connect the air line from the button to the unit - plug the unit into the wall - plug the disposal to the unit - done This is simpler to do than replacing a faucet. you do need an outlet under the sink. In my case I'm updating a disposal that was switched at the wall, so I just leave the wall switch on at all times, and use the new button to turn the disposal on/off. the switch is interesting, its actually a little air pump, and the line is a hose that connects down to the under-counter unit. This means there is no electricity up where you might be splashing water - nice safety feature. I was a little concerned about it being 'mushy' using air to actuate the main unit, but it just works flawlessly. This button is NOT momentary. Push once and the disposal turns on, push again and it turns off. Installed just a few days ago. overall I'm very happy, can't comment on durability yet, but right now I'd probably buy again.

Problem solved! Our 1930's home had always been on septic until recently included into the City Limits adding sewer and water allowed us to add a much desired garbage disposal. Problem was the kitchen was never wired for such an addition, no room for new wall switch on an all tile back splash. After plumbing the new disposal and adding a simple 120 outlet under the sink, how to turn the disposal on and off conveniently? This device is the answer! Simple mount to under sink cabinet wall, plug into outlet, run air tube from unit to switch button and have or make a hole for the button on the sink surface (We already had an existing hole used for the now removed soap dispenser). Installation (of this unit) took all of 5 minutes and works flawlessly. We chose the two outlet version because it cost about the same as the single outlet version and we mist want to add another under sink device someday (Water heater etc). This unit would also work great for an island style sink, wet bar, or other situation where installing or converting a new wall switch is impossible or overly expensive.

I used this with a new InSinkErator garbage disposal and it worked perfectly. Installation was very easy, even as a first-time install. Everything fit as expected and it’s been working great since day one. Simple, solid, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Would definitely recommend.
