Ford MERCON LV Automatic Transmission Fluid - XT-10-5Q3LV - 5 Quart Jug (for Select Models and Years of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury Vehicles)

I have bought MERCON LV multiple times over the past 12 years because I do my own transmission service. On my car its a drain and fill. Pass 15 quarts through it yeah its gonna get clean and cheaper than having it done at the dealership. High quality product great price.

Was looking to change my own transmission. Before buying it, I watch a few how-to-videos to make sure it was do-able and also to male sure I had all the necessary tools. After watching the first one I knew it was something I could do. I fist went to Ford and tried to buy individual quarts of this transmission fluid. I then checked on Amazon and found it cheaper. Bought and received it in 2 days. This weekend I woke up early and decided to do it. It was easy; unscrewed the drain plug ( make sure it is the transmission plug and not the engine oil one, they are near each other) let it drain for a while, maybe 30 minutes. Cleaned the plug and put some threadlocker on it and screwed it back on, not too tight. Used along funnel to add the fluid. I have a 2014 Ford escape se 2.0 turbo engine and I added exactly 4.5 quarta of this Mercon LV. After doing so, i took it for a drive to get the fluid nice and hot. Came back and left the car idleing. I then jacked up the car and removed the driver side wheel. The cat must be level before to make sure you check sure you have the correct amount of fluid in there. There is leveling plug on one side of the transmission that you will need to remove with a socket wrench and a long extension. Be careful because it is hot. Once you pull out the plug you will see the fluid coming out, this means thatit is leveling out. Once the fluid only trickles out, go ahead and put the plug back in, install the tire and you are set.

Watch yourself on fluid types. I’m pretty sure the 10R80 uses ULV. This worked in my 6R80 2016 f1502.7

My 2016 Explorer Sport has been acting up when driving. The car feels like its hesitating when shifting gears. There is a weird shudder, vibration, and sometimes even a weird grinding like sound. Anyone who has this explorer i'm sure has seen all the forums and issues that have been reported. I found so many different possible reasons that cause this. I always felt it was the transmission fluid and I was unsure about doing this, but it was easy and fixed the issue right away. I can literaly drive soft or hard and it doesnt matter, the car is driving smooth and shifting through gears like butter, lol.. I will add that I bought a MC additive for friction that I added with this that maybe helped or not, but hey its working.

Best thing you can get for you car, but a bit pricey

After oil replacement, transmission shifts so smoothly you would think it's a CVT transmission: can't feel gear shifting...

While you could use full Synthetic DEX VI (also sold on Amazon) this Mercon Product is the real deal product Ford Uses at the factory. I do a dump and fill every 50K. My last car had 400K on it when it went to the bone yard. Drop a 100 bucks on a drop and fill every 50K and you won't end up dropping six grand on a transmission that would never have failed if you looked after it. I see transmissions failing all the time between 150 and 200K and it is so avoidable.
