Really loving this loveseat!
UPDATE: 9/18/14So when I first wrote my review it was a few days after I had put the couch together and was still feeling unsure about it because of some bad experiences with other couches on Amazon, but this couch is GREAT!My husband and I had a housewarming party and the couches were amazing! The cushions are so cushy and never slouch in - they always pop back up immediately and look full. The back cushions can get a little misshapen, but all you have to do is refluff them and they look good as new! I spilled some food (guacamole) on one of the couches and it cleaned up immediately without leaving a stain - I couldn't believe it!Summary:If you're having a hard time finding a quality couch online that will fit in your awkward space, buy this couch! However, if you prefer a big couch to sink in to this is still not for you._________________________Old Review:This is not the best couch I have ever owned, however, when living in a small apartment with awkward angles a couch in a box is the only way to go (believe me I've tried). It's a lot heavier than the website says it is so make sure you have two strong guys around to help you. Fedex/UPS will only deliver it to your door.Pros:- looks classic- very comfortable and squishy- holds 500 pounds total, 250 per seat (I bought a different one that was not built well and could not support heavy people, need less to say, it broke)- pretty easy to put togetherCons:- Comes in a very heavy box with lots of packing- Although they are comfortable my husband and I are small people (I'm 5'4'' 130lbs and he is 5'10'' 150 lbs), so if you are taller or heavy set this may not be the couch for you. It has a shorter back and is not very deep if you're tall or large.- Pieces don't always fit together (making the assembly not so easy)- The back doesn't velcro all the way so unless you're putting this up against a wall you will need to buy velcro tapeSummary: overall, an OK product and much better than most couch in a box products I've seen (I've already sent back a Bobkona brand because it broke), but this will not last and will probably need to be replaced within 5 years or less.

It's honestly not bad
Firstly this is a $333 boxed couch so don't expect a $1000 raymor and flannegan couch to be in the box. It's not that type of couch. For the sale price it's offered at, it's a steal.Box fits through most doors, Amazon delivered it and brought it into the first floor of my building. I was able to take the box to the second floor alone but had trouble with the awkward bend from the second to third floor stairwell.(curse the narrow hallways of pre-20th century buildings) I ended up to just opening the box on the second floor and bringing the pieces up one by one before the neighbors complained about the box.Anyways, the couch was relatively easy to assemble, fairly straightforward and didn't even need the instructions. Although I'll admit it's better to construct the bottom half then the top half second, makes aligning the back rail 10x easier than alignment with the top down. The seats are fairly firm and have springs in them, like those spring mattresses. Took several hours for them to expand from their vacuum sealed state to their regular state. The back rests are about 18.5 inches with no cover and 17.5 with a cover. This Is the main complaint, this causes the backs to feel a bit over stuffed and feels like someone put a pillow between you and your chair.I feel like Serta could fix this in one of two ways, bigger back cushion covers to properly fit which would benefit by having more back support and a more seat room. Or remove stuffing which would have a similar effect minus the taller back. I just removed some stuffing from the back pillow and was fine.I ordered light gray but the color was more like a Beige color, no big issue I don't mind it much since imma put a cover on it.Another small issue is the height of the sofa, legs are kinda short, 4 inches. Feels a little akward standing up, I'm 5' 8". I'm planning to get 6 inch legs for it, it should help a good amount.Overall it's a good little sofa that was comfortable enough for me to take naps on and watch TV in my little apartment living room.I recommend this couch for those looking for small couches with okay back support and relatively decent sizing.

Should probably give it 2 stars, but I really do HATE it!
Let me start by saying, "It is everything that it said it was... but..."As I wrote this review, I considered how many stars to give the couch. According to Amazon (as your cursor hovers over the one star) to give something ONE STAR means "I Hate It!" To say that anyone HATES something is such a powerful statement. So, why did I eventually choose to give it only one star? Because, I really do hate this couch. There are several reasons.1st - I am about 5'10" and weigh in at about 220. When I sit down on this couch, I feel like it is trying to eject me. I get the feeling as if I am being pushed forward, out of the sofa, instead of sinking into or sitting comfortably on the couch.2nd - The cushions slip. The seat cushion slips forward and the back cushion slips downward. This makes the sofa even more uncomfortable. It also causes the cushions to fall off of the sofa. For some reason, Serta decided to add black polyester (or at least that's what it looks and feels like) on the bottom of the seat cushions, the back support for the back cushions, the back cushions themselves and under the seat cushions. It is slippery and, I believe the main reason that the cushions slide so badly. Additionally, this takes away the option to 'flip' the cushions to use the other side.3rd - Sit down slowly if your sofa is against a wall. There is very little back to this sofa. If I sit down quickly I bang my head on the wall behind the couch. The backrest (without the cushion) is a mere couple of inches. Add the cushion (which, as I said slips when you sit on it) and there is not enough to keep you from smashing your head against the wall if you 'kick back' on this couch. In fairness, I should hit on a couple of things which I do kind of like.Mainly the fabric. It is thick and appears to be a good quality fabric. The seams seem to be sewn well and I think that this should hold up over some time. Secondly, how crazy easy it was to put together. It came in a box way smaller than I had imagined would be. Just a few wing-type bolts and the legs and this thing was together. The most difficult part (if there was one) would be putting the foam seat cushions into the actual slip/cushion cover itself. It took a little 'fine tuning' to get it into it the right way, but nothing that anyone, can't handle. Lastly, it looks far better than it sits. If all I ever did was look at it, I would be really happy with it. But, that's not the way it works in my house. I sit on it... and, unfortunately, I do not like the way that it sits. In fact, I really do hate the way that it sits. I say it, or think it nearly every time I sit down on it.Overall. Had I bought this in a store, I wouldn't have. Considering that I would have been able to see it, feel it, touch it, sit in it, before buying it... I would have realized that it wasn't what I wanted. Buying it sight-unseen on the internet was my downfall. But, once out of the box (and believe me, I would never be able to get it back into that box) and set up, returning it just isn't worth it. Potentially... no, eventually (probably next year) this will hit the yard sale page for my community on Facebook, in my opinion, long before it should be, were it a better sofa.

Cute and Convenient, but Not So Comfy
Based on appearance alone I would give this an easy five stars. However, I'm 5'2 and find it uncomfortable due to the shallow depth. The Good:- I live in a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator. I was able to take this upstairs alone (one piece at a time) and put it together. If you are able bodied there is no reason that you cannot do the same.- Assembly itself was MUCH easier than Ikea furniture, so if you've been around the block a few times with Ikea you'll have zero problem here.- The seats (bottom cushions) are super comfy. It's basically just a mattress under your butt. If that appeals to you, then you're good to go.- It looks great! I love the corduroy and the color looks just like the picture. When I first saw it after I finished assembly I was thrilled, until...The Bad:- People aren't kidding about the overstuffed back cushions. I couldn't even sit cross legged on the sofa. I'm not a skinny girl, but you feel like you are sitting on a little ledge with your back on a beach ball. I remedied this a bit by taking out almost 1/2 of the stuffing. The result is that my seat backs are a little less dense, but sitting on them is a little less miserable. Still, now I sort of have to lean on the top of the cushions to be comfortable.- To add insult to injury, the arms on the sofa are too low to lean on.Overall, with half the stuffing removed I don't get complaints from my friends when they visit, but it will definitely prevent you from hanging out on the sofa all day.

Extremely easy to assemble, VERY cozy with a strong brand name to back it up...
The fact that this comes in a box will absolutely amaze you, particularly after you relax on this super cozy couch. You may not make friends with your UPS driver (as the box is very heavy, be aware you will need help) but the friend that helps you will be more very happy to sit on the couch with you.Our biggest concern when purchasing this was putting it together. My sister and I bought this for our Summer camp and wanted to something comfortable, affordable and that looked halfway decent. In an area that doesn't have a lot of online second hand options to choose from we went with this piece and we haven't looked back! As I mentioned, the box it came in was a big and a little intimidating and very large but after we opened it up it was truly and honestly a piece of cake to assemble...not even one bit of brother sister bickering. The video that is on this page explains perfectly what you will be dealing with and is not misleading at all. The directions are easy to comprehend and the whole process is truly user friendly.Obviously comfort is what you want in a couch and with this being a name brand we expected comfort...once again, it did not disappoint. We were amazed to find that we put this together ourselves and also could easily relax as soon as were done. At first it took some time for the cushions to fully come to size and offer full potential but as soon as they did you will be thrilled. Very cozy for 2 to 3 normal sized peopled and one could also lay down if they were the only ones on it.Honestly, we were shocked at how easy this was to assemble as well as how affordable a decent couch could be. When you consider that you don't have to deal with the hassle of getting this to your house the assembly time will be more than worth it. If you want a good looking, comfy affordable couch of good quality...look no further.

After 2 years
The back cushions are misshapen and lumpy. The seat cushions are lumpy, the middle of the two cushions has sunk, so you can't really sit anywhere near the middle or you will sink. The black fabric on the bottom of the seat cushion and the backside of the back cushions is extremely thin and disintegrating in many places. The actual fabric has started to wear out and tear in some places.I had company over and they leaned their elbow on the armrest and it just cracked, the fabric is still there, it's just floating there. I think the armrest was made of very thin plywood. This person weighs about 90 lbs, and they just normally leaned on the armrest, I mean... come on.It was easy to put together. I initially liked the fabric when I first got it, I thought it would be rough and durable, it was not. I like that it has legs down the middle. It's light and easy to move to clean under the couch. It's not really serviceable though, I've tried washing the seat covers by removing them, and like I said, It's started to actually just disintegrate in some areas. After 2 years of regular use, watching tv a couple hours a night, company a few times a year, it's become lumpy and uncomfortable.

Received and put it together today. I am happy with this purchase. I'm glad I read the reviews prior to buying. Would recommend
Read all the reviews, asked questions got answers, and decided to pull the trigger and gamble on this sofa. I've looked a lot of different venues for a decent sofa at a reasonable (cheap but not too cheap), including craigslist and overstock. Overstock also has his sofa at a slightly cheaper price but decided to go with Amazon because this company has the best customer service in the world. I have yet to have a bad experience with Amazon as they took care of me for many years with their excellent customer service. So I ordered this couple of days ago and having never bought a sofa in a box, I was pleasantly surprised. I received this today and put it together myself in about half an hour or so.I would have to say so far the sofa is good. The seats are somewhat firm at this point but most likely because it is brand new. I am 5'8 and so thought this would be shorter or lower than advertised but when I sat on it, I didn't feel any discomfort. So far I am satisfied with the size. The material of the sofa is good too. It's a soft cloth material and it feels good. I've purchased micro suede and bonded leather before and those felt too hard so I wanted something else. I am happy with my purchase. Hopefully I can leave an update review later in the year after having broken the sofa in with daily use. I would recommend this to whoever is looking for a decent sofa at a decent price.

A good couch but with a few downsides
I really wish I could give this couch 5 stars, but after a few months of use, it has had some downsides.First, the positive aspects:It got here fast and was easy to put together. My husband and I had it up and in place in less than an hour. We read some previous reviews and had the covers ready for the cushions before they expanded all the way. I can see it causing you issues if you let the cushions "inflate" all the way before putting them in the covers. This couch is also relatively shallow, but that's what we wanted in or house and looked for while shopping. My husband is 5'7" and I'm 5'4", and we've actually had a really hard time finding a couch that fits our smaller frames. This couch, however, is perfect for us.We both also have lower back problems, and this couch has actually helped us a lot. There's not enough room to lean back in it too far, so it forces us both to have better posture. We've both experienced fewer back problems since purchasing this couch. If you are taller or want a couch you can really lounge on, this might not be the couch for you. It is relatively small, especially compared to the giant couches you find in furniture stores. Now the negatives:The back of the couch looks terrible. The Velcro doesn't go down all the way on the sides, so the fabric isn't secure all the way down. If this part of our couch showed, I would tack it down or put more Velcro on the back, but ours is against a wall. It is, however, a pretty cheap couch, so I had anticipated a few lower quality aspects. It also had a very strong smell when it arrived. We opened the windows, and this smell went away in less than 24 hours. It just smells like a cheap, new pair of shoes. I would not put it together in a room with no ventilation. It would have been an awful 24 hours if we did not have a window in the living room. After a few months of pretty heavy use, the bottom cushions are still really springy and the couch is not "dipping" anywhere in the seat area. However, the cushions you lean back against are a different story. They have gotten slouchier over the months, and we are constantly picking them up and trying to beat them back into shape. However, I do have to say that the couch we had before this was a $900 couch, and it had the same problem after a few months, so I'm not sure this is an easily avoidable problem with any couch.Last but not least, the biggest negative is that there seems to be a gap in the middle of one of our arm rests. The fabric is there, but there is no frame in one spot that is about 2x2 inches. This is only on one side, so I think this might just be a flaw in the couch we received. It does seem, however, that some other reviewers have had similar quality issues with this couch (screw holes in pieces not lining up during assembly, funky leg pieces, etc.) which leads me to believe that the construction of the couch itself is pretty cheap. This one issue isn't a huge deal, and the couch itself is still comfortable, but in the end I did give this couch 4 stars because this is a flaw (and one that my husband gripes about constantly). In the end, I think this is a pretty good couch for the price. No, it's not a perfect couch, and you should probably expect a small defect or two if you order it, but it is pretty comfortable and sturdy for the price. We have had lots of people over since we got it who are so surprised at how cheap it was and that it came in a box from Amazon, so I take that as an indicator that this is a pretty good deal. The fabric is nice and so is the shape. If you think it will work for your purposes, I think it is worth taking the plunge.

It's really not bad. I wouldn't want it to be my seating ...
You know. It's really not bad. I wouldn't want it to be my seating for life but, if you're looking something quick for an apartment, for a basement etc then you're probably ok with this. I assembled it all myself, took me no more than an hour and that includes carrying the pieces one by one up a set of stairs (this comes in one gigantic box). I know see these are all manufactured by one particular company (they just carry the serta name) and you can find similar "sofas in a box" at other places with other names...they all appear to be made by the same company. Guess they've cornered the boxed sofa market! It's bouncy, it helps if you have some kind of ottoman or table to rest your feet on it and, it won't win any style awards but, you know, I kind of like it. We will see how long it lasts.

Easy peasy
Easy to set up. Came less than 2 days after ordering. Great quality for the money paid. Has stood up to the wear and tear of a large year old dog.
